It just puzzles me how a great show like Firefly would be cancelled. A great movie like serenity be unseen. And we have crap like touristas still being made and put into theaters.

I love the 1st one, very entertaining. I didn't even bother renting the 2nd one because of all the bad things said about it. I'm pretty sure there was a reason it was straight to video.
While it's cool that Casper Van Dien is coming back, I doubt this will get a wide release. Jake Busey, Denise Richards, and Dina Meyer(yea, she died, but she is sooo hot...they should bring her back somehow) should come back, and then I would be interested in this.

Casper Van who? This is the big news of the day, a pretty much nobody returning to a series that will more than likely go straight to DVD!?! He's coming back cause he needs the work and can't get into anything else.

Starship Troopers was a terrible movie and Starship Troopers 2 was even worse. Its sad that great science fiction novels get translated to shitty action movies that hold little thematic resemblance to the original.

its just how stupid and unoriginal hollywood is, look the nativity story that looks horrible! And yet because passion did so well, all the hollywood producers/exces wants to pander to that audicence now and turn every story in the bible a movie with no regards for quality.

What's going to be any different? They spent about $130-140 million on the first one, only to see $50-60 million in grosses. That's why the second one went straight to DVD. Unless this is another DVD release, I don't see the point. A good book that wasn't well embraced as a movie francise, thanks to the excesses of Paul Verhoeven.

Give them some money!!!
The first Starship is one of my favorites movie ever.
The second one is one of the worst movies ever.
I hope they will have a decent budget for this one.

They need to bring back the same woman
I don't know her name, but she was the captain of the starship that got crushed to death, then in part 2 she was a grunt and she dies again.

She needs to return.. hmm.. she was in the navy and army so now she can be in the psychic team with Doogie.. but she needs to live this time so when she gets a 4th character in part 4, all hell breaks loose.

Well anyone who has read the book, one of my favorites, and seen the movie knows that the only way they are similiar is in the title. But that's beside the fact as Starship Troopers is a very entertaining film. Nothing like the book but none the less one of the better sci-fi's out there. Hating the movie because it translates the book like shit isn't justified because the movie is so unrelated from to the book, but then again there are a couple instances where the movie takes a page from the book such as with propaganda stuff but little else is relevant besides the bugs. The 2nd movie was a travesty in all regards it was made on shitty budget, the guns fired bluish rays instead of bullets, and the story and script were beyond awful even for direct to video release. If this 3rd gets an ok budget we could be in for something similiar to the first one. If it's a direct to video well I'm not so sure.

I really hope somebody up the food chain realizes that a direct to DVD ST3 is not welcomed after their ST2 debacle. I'm crossing my fingers that we will get news soon that ST3 or a renamed ST2 in theaters would be announced.

I am horrified that there are this many people who are excited about this, Heinlein's Starship Troopers was in fact a fantastic novel some of you have got that right, but the movie was a mere perversion of such a great book, then they made a crappy straight to video sequel, and the this...

leave Robert Heinlein's book alone, it doesn't deserve what Hollywood has done to it.

If they arnt going to do it right why bother, I'm not going to bother watching it thats for sure. Unless they call it #2 and bring back the original director. This franchise is even worse than the Robocop franchise they raped! Verhoven would be rolling in his grave if he were dead. I know, how about Show Girls 2!

Well, Date movie was worse :)
Anyway, looking forward to it ...
I believe it's doomed without Verhoeven, but I'll see it, cuz' I'm great fan of the first ...
