![]() on Jun 20 2007 05:14 AM WTF...?? When was there "Starship troopers 2"? Never mind that, Paul Verhuven's orignal movie sucked big time. I couldn't care less about any sequels... or any of his movies for that matter. (Reply to this) |

on Jun 20 2007 05:22 AM The first Starship Troopers was a great film. Great special effects and plenty of humor. I didn't care too much for the second one though. Looking forward to number 3. (Reply to this) |

on Jun 20 2007 05:23 AM re: direct to video? WTF now is the time to make a full length film. the premise is amazing!!! (Reply to this) |

on Jun 20 2007 05:28 AM In reply to this comment (#870230) The second was most notable for allowing us to see Kimber from Nip/Tucks boobs. Other than that it was pretty much a waste. (Reply to this) |

on Jun 20 2007 06:05 AM this isn't even news. at first i thought they were going to actually make the series COME BACK, since i thought the first one was half decent. this one will suck, like the second since its straight to vid. low budget means crap cgi means crap story means crap movie. rico won't save this from being another b movie borefest. (Reply to this) |

on Jun 20 2007 06:25 AM Was the second part anywhere near as gory as the first one? (Reply to this) |

![]() on Jun 20 2007 08:29 AM Why DIRECT TO DVD???? (Reply to this) |
on Jun 20 2007 09:00 AM I loved the first one; great bit of fun and FX right down to the gestapo look. Even the fact that everyone was perfect looking in the future due to gene manipulation came across well with just the right amount of humour. (Reply to this) |
on Jun 20 2007 09:00 AM I just watched SST's again the other day, what a freaking great movie! the sequel wasn't really good, but had a few fun scenes, a naked chick and a kind of badass hero but that's it. but it was directed by the visual effects guy from the first film, I'll hope for a better story out of the guy who wrote the first film. and as always I'll watch it. (Reply to this) |
on Jun 20 2007 09:08 AM "Would you like to know more?" lol. I still remember that retarded line. Screw this. (Reply to this) |
on Jun 20 2007 09:25 AM In reply to this comment (#870240) Look, if you missed that simple little point in Starship Troopers, then you were way in over your head long before the movie began. I hear that a new Barney movie is coming out next year, maybe you should give that one a go instead. (Reply to this) |
on Jun 20 2007 10:16 AM I don't understand why they can't get NPH and Denise Richards and the rest of the cast back for Starship Troopers 3. Honestly its not like they have anything better to do. (Reply to this) |
on Jun 20 2007 10:20 AM oh casper van diem, how far you have fallen. from you glory days of.... starship troopers 1. nevermind. (Reply to this) |

on Jun 20 2007 10:52 AM The original Starship Troopers was a pretty decent flick that just missed the mark. The outer space sequences were quite good. The sequel was ok as a peice of throw away entertainment, good for a rainy Saturday afternoon when there isn't much else to do. It only advanced the original story about 5%. Another direct to video sequel will probably be about the same. Hollywood Movie Mogul speaking to Big Shot Producer : "We want to make a sci-fi movie for next summer, any ideas for a director?" Producer : " I have this nephew who is good for nothing and needs a job." Mogul : "Has he directed anything else?" Producer : "H'es done one picture, consisting mainly of womens' boobies and bathroom humor." Mogul : "Ok, he's in. I have a 12 year old grandson who writes movie scripts for a hobby, how about using him for the story?" Producer : " I was thinking about using my pet monkey." Mogul : "Let's use both, co-writers always work better." Producer : "We're set, do you think this movie will sell?" Mogul : "Sure, sci-fi fans wil eat any swill we serve them as long as it's served with a side dish of dog crap." (Reply to this) |
![]() on Jun 20 2007 10:55 AM In reply to this comment (#870230) What about RoboCop??? (Reply to this) |
![]() on Jun 20 2007 11:02 AM In reply to this comment (#870241) Apparently, a lot of people missed the point. Starship Troopers was a satire. It was a social commentary on the whole xenophobic, might-makes-right attitude that often goes hand-in-hand with blind, patriotic nationalism. (Reply to this) |
![]() on Jun 20 2007 12:24 PM Why wouldn't Casper come back? He's got nothing else to do. (Reply to this) |
on Jun 20 2007 12:35 PM Starship Troopers pretty much sucked. If you read Heinlein's original novel, you know it's an intricate and engaging science fiction military story. If you watched the movie, its a cheesy action flick with some decent visuals but nothing more. All these classic science fiction novels like this and I, Robot seem to be destined for crappy popcorn flicks, which the source material clearly should be above. And of course Starship Troopers 2 sucked much harder. (Reply to this) |
![]() on Jun 20 2007 12:53 PM Starship Troopers had terrible acting and a terrible script but it was still a very fun and enjoyable movie throughout. The second film easily sucked even though i turned it off halfway thinking that if i watched the whole thing it would just be a bigger waist of time. I Don't think we need sequels for a movie like Starship Troopers. That's all i am gonna say on the subject (Reply to this) |

on Jun 20 2007 07:12 PM Sounds shit house. (Reply to this) |
![]() on Jun 20 2007 07:46 PM In reply to this comment (#870248) I've read the book (too damn short for my taste) and seen the first one, and love both of them....in their own different way. The movie pretty much makes fun of the book for it's extreme-right policies and ideas (ever more annoying as I get older, but it is Verhoeven after all), but those action scenes still have the best visuals I've seen for a pre-Phantom Menace film, besides The Fifth Element. But yeah, many of these great sci-fi novels (some of them old) are destined to turn into trash because writers want something leaning to the left as much as possible. (Reply to this) |
on Jun 20 2007 07:47 PM Hope it will be as good as the first I loved the first one (uncensored) and didn't even bother to check out the second one (without any returning character then it MUST have been a money grab). All in all, i'll see this one for sure. (Reply to this) |
on Jun 20 2007 08:11 PM i didn't even know there was a second one. oh well (Reply to this) |
on Jun 20 2007 08:17 PM In reply to this comment (#870246) You know, its actually possible to understand the point of the film and still think it wasn't any good. I for one, thought it was horrible, and understood the social commentary behind it. It wasn't exactly subtle. That was part of the problem. Part of it. (Reply to this) |
on Jun 21 2007 01:04 AM By admitting the second one they've sunk this one. People will expect a direct-to-video effort. (Reply to this) |
on Jun 21 2007 01:46 AM i still cannot believe they replaced muzzle flash with a regulated pulsating white LEDs in the second one> talk about cheap! (Reply to this) |
on Jun 21 2007 03:56 AM I've only got one rule. Everybody fights. Nobody quits. (Reply to this) |
on Jun 21 2007 06:27 AM "those action scenes still have the best visuals I've seen for a pre-Phantom Menace film" EXACTLY. the bugs and the fighting were AMAZING, completely blew my mind as a young kid. Especially with all the superhero flicks and epic war movies coming out now like the 300, another well budgeted starship troopers flick revolving around large scale battles and fight tot he deaths should hit the big time. MAKE THIS AN EPIC BUG KILLING WAR MOVIE PLEASE! although i doubht it will happen :( (Reply to this) |
![]() on Jun 21 2007 07:32 AM This movie should have infiltrator bugs There is only one way to keep this travesty of a sequel from sucking... infiltrator bugs. The people who saw that short-lived CG Starship Troopers TV show will know what I'm talking about. There was that bipedal, humanoid bug who walked up to the base wearing a trooper's armor, and then it burst out of the suit and kicked everybody's asses with mad kung-fu skillz? That was awesome. They should have it in this movie. Alien bugs are cool, but alien ninja bugs? Sign me up! (Reply to this) |
on Jun 21 2007 07:45 AM In reply to this comment (#870248) "Starship Troopers pretty much sucked." "And of course Starship Troopers 2 sucked much harder." Okay...these two need to get a room... (Reply to this) |
![]() on Jun 21 2007 08:11 AM NNNN (Reply to this) |
![]() on Jun 21 2007 01:00 PM starship troopers 2 was arguably the worst movie i have ever seen. the first was bad, but it was kinda supposed to be. the second was horrible. beyond horrible. like as bad as "glass trap"... which i only rented cuz i was bored and had the blockbuster movie pass. ;) i kinda liked the whole bug squashing action of the first one, so maybe the third will be better? who knows. (Reply to this) |

on Jun 21 2007 01:24 PM In reply to this comment (#870246) Satire can still suck The book was satire, the movie made stabs at camp and satire and came up short on both counts. Attempting something intellectually sophisticated with Denise Richards is as easy as creating perpetual motion machines. (Reply to this) |
on Jun 22 2007 12:49 AM In reply to this comment (#870263) The only thing that keeps me from agreeing with you is that I don't consider anything Direct to video the best or worst of anything because I simply don't have any expectation that it will be good. Oh and of course Kimbers breasteses those were enjoyable too. (Reply to this) |
on Jun 22 2007 01:16 PM They should do whatever they can to get Denise Richards and Neil Patrick Harris back. Why does it say there is no chance? (Reply to this) |
on Jun 22 2007 03:10 PM In reply to this comment (#870241) fuckin A dude Troopers was spelt out WAY in advance ( fuck sake do your REALLY think they cast Ms Richards for her acting or maybe it WAS HER SMILE) Maybge they were thinking that someone with a big smile could steer a great big fuck off space ship out a disaster as against let me think oh yeh here we go Maggie Gylanhall or indeed Virginia Madsen, but thenj again call me cynical!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Reply to this) |
on Jun 22 2007 04:43 PM In reply to this comment (#870241) Wow, you sure are clever. Defending Starship Troopers against an innocuous joke. As you were, sir... (Reply to this) |
on Jun 22 2007 04:49 PM In reply to this comment (#870255) Yeah. You'd think it would pretty much go without saying, what with all the bloated claims to intelligence permeating this thread. And yet, you have to say it. (Reply to this) |
![]() on Jun 23 2007 07:16 AM THIS COULDA BEEN GREAT!!! Shame! Starship Troopers was awsome. And totally set up a sequel. Remember those big nuclear guns at the end? Then i saw 2 and it demolished me! Suspect i wont even rent part 3. WHY OH WHY, do they take an awsome franchise then shit all over it? Look what happened with Robo-cop 3, Alien Resurrection, Terminator 3, There should be 6 or 7 awsome sequels to each of these films. But instead, they sunk their own ships. At least with the Star Wars prequels, they got better. Sith was awsome. (Reply to this) |
on Jun 23 2007 10:59 PM Starship Troopers 3 Does anyone other then me think these straight to video sequals are pathetic are they really that hard up on making money this is hollywood I, don't think so.So they make this peice of crap and sell it , yes to those who didn't know there was a Starship Troopers 2 and i had the unpleasentry of thinking it was going to be good after i saw the second that was enough bugs and soldiers for me.Word of the wise save your money on something worth watching. (Reply to this) |
![]() on Jun 24 2007 12:54 PM Where did it say it was going to be a direct to DVD sequel? (Reply to this) |
on Jun 27 2007 10:51 AM They should forget about the whole Direct to Video thing. Right now is the time to bring another SST to the big screen. Next summer is like the final jab you can take with a satire aimed at the extreme right. You know, make it about a squad of humans assigned to the occupation of a bug planet and how the non-stop bug "insurgency" starts to affect their moral as they die one by one while they have pro-state videos forced down their throats. You can throw in a parallel story aboard starships too of course. Get as much as the original cast back, hire a young fresh director, and just make an all out sci-fi action spectacle with satire thrown in. Call it Starship Troopers: Marauder, forget about numbers as to not bring up #2. It would do well after recent hits like 300. Maybe not huge, but big enough boxoffice + video sales, it would be more than just video. (Reply to this) |
on Mar 18 2008 10:13 AM STARSHIP TROOPERS was a huge disappointment. The brain sucking scene was about it for me, that and trying to argue who was hotter, Denise or that red head who was in DEVIL'S ADVOCATE. In college, someone did a project on the novel. Read the novel and you would be damned if you watched the movie again. I guess Casper is finally back together after being cut in thirds in SLEEPY HOLLOW. That's taking "putting your life back together" literally. BTW wasnt Starship Troopers almost a 2 hours infomercial? "WOULD YOU LIKE TO KNOW MORE?" (Reply to this) |
on May 30 2008 05:19 AM The first was cheesy fun, other than Clancy Brown and Ironside the acting pretty much sucked but who cares when you have unsubtle, over-the-top and ultra gory entertainment. Classic Verhoeven, if you enjoy cheese that is. Never saw the sequel or know what to make of a third. If their wanting to keep in tone with the first I doubt it'll work without Verhoeven.
