A superb performance from veteran New Wave actress Bernadette Lafont anchors this absorbing road movie from debut French writer/director Olivier Peyon.

This is a stylish performance from Lafont, and though I wondered if she wasn't withholding too much interior turmoil from the camera, it is very assured work from Peyon.

It’s a characteristically French film – in the UK, the same story would be big on whimsy and lovable eccentrics, but in the Gallic take there’s a chilly bleakness that cuts like the wind from the mountains that provide the backdrop to the story.
