Lizard Boys Chase "Ambulance"
by Scott Weinberg | April 11, 2006
Discuss Article
Broken Lizard, the comedy troupe behind Super Troopers, Club Dread, and the upcoming Beerfest, have another deal lined up with WB. Seems the boys will soon be transformed into a bunch of Ambulance Chasers.

According to Variety, "Jay Chandrasekhar will sound the sirens when directing "Ambulance Chasers" for Warner Bros. through his Broken Lizard comedy shingle. Jon Zack has been hired to pen the script.

Story revolves around what happens when two fiercely competitive personal-injury lawyers fight over a new client.

The Broken Lizard team, based on the Warners lot, consists of Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske. They inked their production deal with the studio last year after the box office success of "The Dukes of Hazzard," which Chandrasekhar directed.

First up in the Warners-Broken Lizard deal is the Chandrasekhar-helmed "Beerfest," which is in post-production. As with their previous pics, "Super Troopers" and "Club Dread," the comedy troupe's members wrote "Beerfest" together and all star.

Broken Lizard busted out with Super Troopers. It was an unexpected hit. It was supposed to go direct-to-dvd, but in the aftermath of 9-11, society ate up movies about firefighers, police officers, and the like. It turned a good profit. Then they made that Club Dread that next to no one saw. It made less that 1/3 that of Super Troopers. It also made less than its own budget. Then the guys got a deal with WB for 3 or 4 movies. I just hope that Beerfest is better than Club Dread. After that, I will make my decision on Ambulance Chasers. Though I will probably see it anyway because the plot sounds good.

I was upset that Jay directed Dukes of Hazzard but didn't have Farva Play Boss Hogg. Just a laid back Burt Reynolds. Club Dread just sucked (Sorry Guys) But hey Puddle Crusier was ok. Super Troopers kicked a to the s to the third s.

Can't wait to see a hint and wink of an Troop that Americanized Python Colgate Style.

They seem like nice guys and now and then are in the Upstate or NYC area. They go to college campuses, asking college students to view the film that's how they gain their audience, so if you go to their site and track em down and tell them they'll listen.

ST's 2 would kick ass.
