Even a fantasy, whoever it's for, has to have a plot that minimally makes sense, characters that make decisions based on coherent personalities, and a consistent tone. Unfortunately, Teaching Mrs. Tingle lacks all three.

As a teen drama, it's soggy and predictable; as a thriller, it's a soggy and predictable teen drama; as a comedy, it's a soggy and predictable teen drama.

As a routinely cruel, often vicious, miserably unhappy teacher, Mirren offers a complex, brilliantly disciplined performance!

The film's plot runs as smoothly as a Yugo with sand in the transmission and aside from a few well-acted moments, the film falls apart quicker than a paper mache space shuttle.
