Sarah Connor Chronicles Pilot Making Early Online Debut
Say...how much are the writers making from this stunt, anyway?

Hey, Terminator fans! Excited about the Jan. 13 and 14 premiere of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles on Fox? Well, good news: Thanks to Yahoo!, you don't have to wait.

Though the new series' two-night premiere is scheduled for 8 o'clock Sunday the 13th and 9 o'clock Monday the 14th, Fox has announced a deal with Yahoo!, offering fans the chance to preview the pilot online, starting January 4 -- that's tonight -- at 9 P.M. EST. (Sorry, East Coasters, you'll have to stay up until midnight if you want to be among the first to lay eyes on the show.) The Yahoo! preview will last for 24 hours, and will feature an exclusive introduction by Sarah Connor herself, Lena Headey.

The show's official synopsis:

"Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" represents an exciting reinvention of the "Terminator" franchise, in which the strong and intrepid Sarah Connor (Lena Headey) discovers that protecting her 15-year-old son, John (Thomas Dekker), and stopping the rise of the machines is more difficult than she had ever imagined. Sarah and John are joined by Cameron (Summer Glau), an enigmatic and otherworldly high school student, who proves to be much more than a friend and James Ellison (Richard T. Jones) an FBI agent hot on their trail who soon becomes a powerful ally.

Advance notice for The Sarah Connor Chronicles has been somewhat mixed, but with the writers' strike two months old, TiVos across the country are starting to get pretty hungry for new content, and this is easily one of the highest-profile midseason replacements in recent memory -- audiences may end up tuning in whether they really want to or not. How about you, Vine-y friends? Are you planning on making room for the latest Terminator?

Curious, kind of. But I am so used to never watching TV anymore that I it's likely I will forget about it.

I'll be watching it, even if I think this whole concept is backtracking on a series that should be moving forward. Luckily, T4 is coming to fix that.

Plus, ya know, this has Summer Glau. Firefly nerds unite!

i loved Firefly...but i thought the chic was weak in it. even though its nice when chics RARELY talk(jessica simpson, take note)...she was kind of annoying to me in the series. the movie she was better though...

ok, maybe i've seen the crap trailers or whatever but...its nice to see the chic from 300 is actually sarah connor and NOT the chic from Firefly. i kept wondering what the h3ll they casted that chic to be connor for since she's not old enough for the role. i don't even think i saw Headey in the previews i've seen...its just the Firefly girl. what the h3ll, bad marketing...at least from what i've seen(i don't watch Fox that much, cept for a Bears game, or a scrubs rerun)

Looks interesting, and as for myself, it's all about Lena Headey.

seen it. it's pretty good.

ps, Heroes season 2 sucked.
Lost has been sucking for some time. The writing's gone south and they're making up crap as they go along. Same thing happening to Heroes.

Which is what makes me appreciate series such as BSG even more. Story arc with an ending.
Instead of milking it with makeup and breakup and makeup crap.

Doofyfan,

I totally disagree about Lost sucking. There were a span of about 5-6 episodes in the middle of the 3rd season that was lame, but the end picked up well and the introduction of flashforwards was ingenious. I havent seen a BSG i have liked yet...

As far as this show goes...i dont know what to say...seems a little out of place...how many damn times do you have to kill terminators to prevent the dday crap?

Yeah, I'm still unsure about this one. That kid kind of lost me there. "Mommy, I'm too scared to lead an army... whimper". Lame.

This series actually looks worse than T3, and I didn't think that was possible. Far too many women (it's like The Oxygen Channel Presents: The Estrogenator) and none of the characters fit their roles. Sarah Connor was buffed out and full-on psycho in the movies. You could believe this was a woman who had a tremendous burden. In the show she's a soccer mom who jokes about making pancakes. The new 'Terminatrix' is some waif who looks like Shannon Doherty. In fact, the only male terminator is the bad guy, which is yet another indicator of how over-feminized our media is.

The kid is pretty embarrassingly bad, too. Like it wasn't bad enough to have to suffer through first Eddie Furlong whining about his responsibilities, then whatshisname doing the same as a twenty-something in T3. Now we're supposed to accept this anonymous, effeminate emo kid whining some more about being involved in the coolest storyline ever? Canceled.

I got to see an advance copy of this some months back and honestly, it's not bad at all. The finale of the pilot is pretty cool (and very T2-esque); it leaves us wanting to see what happens which is a good thing. I don't know that it backtracks all that much in that it plays with time travel which is nice since it's actually an element we've not seen explored much in the Terminator mythos aside from machines traveling backwards. Without getting too spoilerish, I think time travel is used nicely in the show.

And yes, Summer Glau is fantastic as always. She has a nice balance of what made her great as River Tam as well as stretching herself as an actress. Not to mention, the poster featuring her...well, half of her anyway...is something any scifi geek male would want on his wall (looking to order it). :)

I think y'all are going to like this. Just remember, it's lower budget and trying hard to focus more on the dynamic between Sarah Connor and her son. Don't expect mind-bowing special-effects or perfect action sequences (although there is one where Glau and...nah, I'll let you see for yourself.) ;)

I just watched it, and thought it was better than decent. Summer Glau makes the show.

And anyone who thinks Lost has lost it is crazy. It is one of the few shows that continue to be unpredictable and original. I'm not saying it isn't without its faults, but nothing on tv right now comes close. I admit I have never seen BSG and have heard only good things, but Lost is king of the hill. Heros is a much better example of a show not knowing where it is going.

But what do I know, my favorite all time show is Buffy.

It may be hard for anyone under 30 to really get this: It's a "Terminator" t.v. series! How could you NOT watch and support it? Summer Glau certainly deserves a hit show. Heck, I'll watch just about anything that isn't a "reality" show, a CSI spin-off, or the sadly misnamed "Heroes."
