Producer Moritz Borman Drops Some Terminator 4 Hints
No Arnie, no Vin, and one "huge twist."
Looking for Terminator 4 plot details? You might have to read between the lines to get them, but producer Moritz Borman has dropped a few hints about the sequel, which begins filming April 15 in Budapest.
In an interview with Empire (excerpted in The Sun), Borman said the production is "keeping the script under very tight security" before promising a "huge twist at the end." From the article:
"I can tell you this much -- this is the story everybody has been waiting for. Namely, we're in the future. The part of it where Arnold's character has not yet been built but is on the drawing board.
"And in the next two episodes we'll get to the point where time-travel is more in the foreground. It's the war against the machines, the start of Skynet taking over the world."
Arnold Schwarzenegger won't be back for Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins, of course -- being that he's busy governing the state of California and all -- but according to Borman, we might see him in future installments:
"It's convenient that he hasn't been built at this point of the story, as Arnold has more important things to do right now, but that doesn't mean he might not re-appear later in the trilogy...he knows the material and is very supportive of what we're doing. There might even be hints of his character in this one."
When it came to rumors of Vin Diesel starring in T4, however, Borman was more forthcoming, telling Empire that Diesel "is not somebody we're currently talking to."

on Jan 02 2008 04:56 AM Terminator is becoming the Friday the 13th of big budget blockbusters. How they going bring Jason back this time and in what form? How many actors have played John Conner now? This'll be the fifth, right? And of course they don't have the one element that offered any kind of consistency. Schwarzenegger. They must be offering Bale a fortue to lend his reputable name to this pile of dung. Oh and McG's name doesn't offer any comfort, in fact it's a detriment. He's done three films and they've all sucked. Don't try and defend the first Charlie's Angels, go back and watch it now. Not funny, not cute, and it doesn't even look good. An eight year old, artifact of the late 90's styles and attitudes that carried over into the new century. (Reply to this) |

on Jan 02 2008 06:13 AM I think its logical for no Arnie. I mean, if we are at a point in the future where war is ragin, why would he be around just yet? I like the idea of slowly reintroducing him.  on Jan 02 2008 07:41 AM Hmm, i like this idea, This is story is like the Star Wars prequels, in that Vader only makes an appearance at the end. Makes sense to me, now we get to see how it all kicked off. However, by the end of the 3rd film, i do wanna see maybe a CGI Arnie or more, being captured by the resistance and sent back in time. This COULD be great. As for mcg, i dont know what films hes done aside from Charlies angels, But im not gonna judge him on those films, because, well, They were Charlies Angels films and not Terminator films. on Jan 02 2008 08:36 AM I second Gary Busey. Doesn't he have a horse-teeth son that's an actor as well? People could keep running from the Gary Busey Terminator, and whenver the terminator is about to get them, he flies off his motorcyle and crashes his skull. on Jan 02 2008 01:04 PM Donatsu: Uh, he'll be the third. And there have been precipitous jumps in time between each movie that had John Connor in them. Plus, I don't think Arnie was really the only consistent element. Actually, his inclusion in T3 felt like it was included more out of necessity than anything. The story is the consistent element, and they've actually been building onto it fairly well, in my opinion. I'll agree with everything you said about McG, though. I don't know what to think of this movie. Christian Bale just *doesn't* choose to be in bad movies, but McG has yet to *make* a good movie. So who's going to buck trend first? on Jan 02 2008 01:05 PM I do not have a problem with them making another Terminator movie. I don't even mind them making one without Arnold. What makes me worried is the involvement of McG. I can honestly say that Charlie's Angels 2 made me laugh until my sides hurt from the sheer stupidity of it. I couldn't believe it. However, everyone is allowed a few horrendous movies, at least in my opinion. Who knows, he may redeem himself. (Reply to this) |

on Jan 02 2008 01:59 PM Isn't this the guy who was fired from the superman returns project. So that means he was intending to make a even worse picture. The Charlies Angels movies were some of the worst movies ever made. Bale is by far my favorite actor since American Psycho and Equilibriuim, I hope he can find a way out of this piece of crap, Oh well, Clooney survived Batman & Robin, Maybe Christian will get a mulligan (Reply to this) |

on Jan 02 2008 03:21 PM The official story as per McG's involvement with Superman, last I heard, was that the studio wanted to shoot it in Australia but McG didn't want to shoot a movie about an American symbol in Australia.
