This aptly describes the films that were produced in New Rochelle, New York's Thanhouser Studios, the only competition to the Edison and Biograph studios who dominated the marketplace in the 1910s. This collection of short silent dramas were produced by Edwin Thanhouser for the studios from 1911-1915. Seven films are included, among them, THE EVIDENCE OF THE FILM. This 1913 crime drama follows the complete production process of film and was added in 2001 to the National Film Registry. When film productions moved to California, the Thanhouser studio could no longer compete, but the films included here demonstrate their importance to the art form. [More]
