Tim Allen Says He's In for "Toy Story 3"
by Scott Weinberg | July 31, 2006

Now that Disney and Pixar are pals again, we can probably expect a few sequels. Disney loves sequels, but Pixar always focuses on the quality, so hey, worse things could happen. And now comes word from Tim "Buzz Lightyear" Allen that he's ready to slide back into the spacesuit.

From The National Ledger: ""Toy Story 3" is moving right along and "it's going to be great." That's the word from Buzz Lightyear himself, Tim Allen. "We have John Lasseter, the original director, and I believe Tom is on board," he adds, referring to Tom Hanks -- aka the voice of his cowboy buddy, Woody.

The follow-up to "Toy Story" and "Toy Story 2" was en route to being made by Disney, without the creative talents of Lasseter and the rest of the Pixar animation team that made the first two movies instant classics. When Pixar was acquired by Disney in January, Lasseter, the Pixar co-founder who is now Disney's Chief Creative Officer, pulled the plug on that version immediately and literally put "TS3" back on the drawing boards. Allen refers to the latest version of the story as "stronger" than the old one."

This could put Tom Hanks' career back on track.

This is, IMO, going to be a great movie. I was disappointed when I found out that Hanks would probably not return as Woody, and then my disappointment went even further when the plug was pulled on the movie. But now that Hanks, Allen and Lasseter are back and the movie is moving full speed, I more pumped than ever to see it.

This is going to be amazing. I'm extremely glad Lasseter is back, without him this movie would have sucked, hard.

What do these CGI kids movies come out weekly now? How cheap must they be to make?
