Bay Prepares to Fake Out Transformers Fanboys
Summary
Michael Bay went through the wringer with the fanboys on Transformers. He addressed every concern -- early designs, scripts, remaining faithful to the source material -- and delivered a movie that won over most audiences, grossing nearly $320 million in America alone. But with Transformers 2 in development, Bay isn't taking any more lip service. Back to Article

FireflyFan4evr writes: on Nov 10 2007 10:58 AM Transformers was an incredibly enjoyable action film made by a guy who can ONLY make action flicks- and did a pretty good job. I knew I wasn't going into an Academy Award worthy (except Visual Effects and Sound) 2.5 hours that would make me change my belief on the whole nature of the world. If you go into a movie knowing what you should expect, then it will be much better. Stop bashing Bay for doing what he does best, and while it chokes me to say it, he did it pretty f***ing good on this one. (Reply to this) |

DarthWonka writes: on Nov 10 2007 11:24 AM Transformers 2: The Remake The next one better be the Transformers movie we should have gotten the first time, with the TFs taking center stage. Sheesh. It's not hard. Think if the Toy Story movies were about Andy and his friends with only special appearances by the toys. That's my complaint about Transformers. It featured them; not starred them. meadowblaster writes: on Nov 10 2007 12:20 PM The movie was about 15 minutes of "woah, that was cool" while the rest was pure ****e. It was a really really bad movie. (Reply to this) |

apostate writes: on Nov 10 2007 01:31 PM I liked the first movie. Which would be the first Bay movie I have ever liked. So the chances of himing making another movie I like is quite small. Also this nonsense he came up with about fake scripts is absurd. It's like a how to on how to undermine your own fan base. What a dick. (Reply to this) |

Odo19 writes: on Nov 10 2007 02:48 PM I loved the first movie even if it was pretty brain-dead, but with the sequel the novelty of giant robots beating the crap out of each other will have worn off. The sequels going to need an actual story and more than that the story is going to have to make sense. (Reply to this) |

The_Last_Sith_Lord writes: on Nov 10 2007 04:07 PM Why is everyone complaining about the time the transformers got? If the movie was centered around them it would fail (Reply to this) |

Odo19 writes: on Nov 10 2007 05:01 PM If the movie was focused on the Transformers then the only thing that would have changed would have been that the transformers would have seemed more ridiculous because nothing about them or their backstory really makes any sense. (Reply to this) |

Warheart1188 writes: on Nov 10 2007 07:23 PM This could be all fake info like the upcoming fake scripts! There could NO Transformers 2! Bay could be giving false info about the movie even being made! Ha! Michael Bay you sly dog you! Only YOU could think of ideas like this! And I'm not saying it's a GOOD idea. We've all seen Bay's good ideas get turned into movies. (Reply to this) |

harrismonkey writes: on Nov 10 2007 08:26 PM First off, while it could have been worse- how can anyone claim Bay remained faithful to the source material?!?! Optimus prime bares resemblance to previous versions, these robots do transform, otherwise details carried over from the source material are not exceptionally faithful. Big question though is this, given the writers strike, who exactly is going to write all these fake scripts? Michael Bay, or his production assistants? I'm still not sure how exactly they managed to pen a finished script for this movie in the one month after they were hired to write it while doing scripts and rewrites for 3 other movies at the same time. Unless these suposedly striking writers are actually secretly writing right now, I'm going to guess the quality of the script they're going to turn lose on us this time will be significantly worse than last time around.
