Young Turk writes: on Feb 12 2008 06:25 PM It couldn't have been hard, all you have to do is change all the characters that died into new ones and make a new beginning of the film and you are pretty much set. Yea, that's pretty much how I remember every episode of Transformers playing out. (Reply to this) |

dystopiandweller writes: on Feb 12 2008 07:31 PM This is one of the most entertaining group of comments I've read for any RT news article. I just hope Transformers 2 is as entertaining. In other words, I hope it's much better than the first one. Much, much, much, much better. First step: get rid of Bay. (Reply to this) |

Dinobot77 writes: on Feb 12 2008 08:05 PM As an avid G1 fan, it bothers me greatly that Bay would even dare pick up a pencil and contemplate writing anything but his own name. There is a reason why newspapers publish articles at an 8th grade reading level and the SAT gives 700 points for just adding your name to the top of the page. He has always been an action expert, not by any means of the word a writer. I did appreciate T1'07 for what it was. I understood that he couldn't make a movie that was soley based on G1 due to the generation gap and the need to make a substantial profit. I only wish that there was more character development. Yet, I really hope that this is one of his on-going attempts to confuse the fanbase. For all those that don't know, Bay has a history of throwing false stories and scripts into the media in an attempt to throw fans off. Bay is no writer. Now with all of that said, I don't believe Bay when he says he wrote it. Spielberg has stated over the last two months that he is going to pay special attention to this project and make sure that the characters are developed greatly. Spielberg wants there to be a lot more depth to T2's story, since we all know the action will be top notch. There was an interview not too long ago where he is quoted as saying that the ending of T2 will be more of an ending like Empire, a dark ending that is able to be transitioned into the third movie. I will try to find that interview and post the link here. All-in-all, I don't see Spielberg letting Bay destroy this movie. He has already said that this trilogy means the most to him since Indiana. Hell, he used to play with G1 toys in the 80's with his kids and still has one of the largest collections in the world. In Spielberg I trust. (Reply to this) |

John Z. Delorean writes: on Feb 13 2008 06:07 AM Stop hating on this movie, I'm not a Bay fan at all but damn the last battle scene in the city is the best piece of over the top action ever. The story was stupid the acting was horrible but who cares this all about the action. Starscream taking it to the jets over the city, missiles flying , autobots dodging and transforming in mid leaps. No way he could have 30 transformers running around. Be realistic the movie would never get made. (Reply to this) |

whiskeyriver writes: on Feb 13 2008 07:36 AM Of COURSE he already wrote it, and I have the script. It was written on a napkin from Chili's: "First, we see some BIG, CRAZY ROBOTS. They...uhh...what's the word? Change...uhh...changeform!! They changeform from stuff like...big-*** boats, and scooters and treadmills n' stuff. So these big, crazy robots start walkin' around and people are all like "WOAH! That used to be my treadmill!! Holycrap!" Then kapow! Some other big, crazy robots show up...they changeform out of super-fast looking cars (pimped cars??) bicycles and mailboxes. These robots start fightin' with other robots. Then, WOAH...some of these robots are good, and some are bad. Like, REAL bad. Some may even have GLOWING RED EYES! THAT SHOOT LASERS! Ehh...maybe not lasers. Lasers don't go "BOOM" enough. Anyways, these changeformers are REALLY kickin' each others' asses. The people who used to own the items they changed from, like xboxes and DVD players n' stuff...well, they're superpissed cuz' they don't have an xbox anymore...but they are also scared cuz their xbox is totally gunna destroy them if the good robots don't win. Then...KABOOOOOOOM!!! A giant explosion happens. I don't know why. It just does. The bad changeformers all totally melt n' stuff...we see their red eyes getting dim and their mean-*** robot voice saying "NOOOOOOOO! I'm melll-tinnnng!" Then they die. All the good robots and humans celebrate (at Chili's?), and then the robots changeform back into jetskis and pencils. THE END!" What? It was a VERY BIG napkin! So, there you have it. The script to Changeformers II. (Reply to this) |

TombstoneLawDog writes: on Feb 13 2008 09:52 AM I dunno where they all the fans of this movie went, but I'll say it alone: I LOVED THIS MOVIE. I'm a life-long trasnformers fand and I had more fun at this movie than I've had in a VERY long time (YES, I was there with a girl but NO she did not *augment* the movie) The last time I saw repeat viewings of a film was Spider-man, five years ago and the last movie before that was the Matrix-- which should tell everyone where I fall on the spectrum so you can decide how 'insane' or 'gay' I am. Is Bay a great director? NOT in any traditional sense. Do I think he can handle drama? Not unless 'drama' equals 'beautiful people moving in slow motion in the sunset as a camera circles them.' Did he put heart, soul and balls in the T1? I believe so. And I have to say I'd much rather hear about a director feverishly pouring out a script he believes in (though not so much to meet a deadline-yikes) than being handed some corporate sh#t to direct. And as long as I'm sermonizing: Here's the problem with too many transformers (whatever 'too many' is): the more characters you develop, the more screen time you need. If you don't have enough, you end up with Spider-man 3 or Batman & Robin: too many distractions, not enough story to make you care. It's ALL about the writing. Bay writing a script for Bay is a good thing for me, if he ends up ringing the bell like he did in T1. (Reply to this) |
