Tron Mastermind Plots Return to Theaters
We fully expect a Bruce Boxleitner cameo.

It's taken 25 years, but Tron fans who have been waiting for Steven Lisberger's return to cyberspace may finally get their wish.

Variety reports that the writer/director has sold Soul Code, a futuristic script about memory transfer technology, to Reliant Pictures. From the article:

Lisberger will direct the story of a tech pioneer who has perfected a way to download and transfer a person's memory. Script examines what happens when her memory is placed into a much younger woman's body.

Those who have followed Lisberger's career know that things didn't go exactly as planned after he brought Tron to the big screen in 1982: his next two projects were directing gigs for the John Cusack comedy Hot Pursuit and 1989's Mark Hamill sci-fi flop Slipstream. Perhaps sensing his career's unfavorable trajectory, Lisberger stepped away from the cameras to focus on writing. (His projects included a Tron sequel that died on the operating table a few years ago.)

Interestingly, the spark for Lisberger's return to film was provided by none other than IGN Weekly host Jessica Chobot; when the two met up at a Tron screening, their conversation led to a collaboration in which, as the article says, "the two soon began hatching a story about the dangers of cyberspace from a distinctly female point of view." In Lisberger's own words:

"Jess is not a film person -- she was a fan -- and that was refreshing...she wasn't double-thinking what the audience wants; she was the audience."

No timeframe is given for Soul Code's release.

I'm slightly crestfallen by this news because I thought of a story idea very much like this a short while ago and was very excited about someday writing it. oh well, maybe if this is a flop or doesnt even get made I can still write my version.

um, yeah...lol

I thought of the following:

- mimi m&ms
- Digital Picture Frames
- The Idea of a Mini-PC
- others

* However, the difference between a successful person and a dreamer is the ability to ACT on a thought; to turn a flight of fancy into a tangible product/service...

The rest of us dreamers will always remain just that

That bastard Ron Popeil is always stealing my ideas.

Veg-O-Matic - my idea
Pocket Fisherman - mine
Mr. Microphone - hey good lookin' that was my idea
Inside-The-Shell Egg Scrambler - yep
Hair in a Can Spray - you better believe it
Smokeless Ashtray - my pure unfiltered idea
Electric Food Dehydrator - my prototype made my snacks today

I'll get my revenge on you yet, Ron Popeil! As God is my witness, I shall never go patentless again!

It is my theory that Shakespeare had a time machine, he went into the future and stole all the great ideas I was going to come up with. His adventures through time included an evil clone called Ape Shakespeare, Blizzaro Lincoln, and an apocalyptic death machine from the year 3028 A.D. called Mr. Bubbles.

Shakespeare stole all of Sir Francis Bacon's best stuff. Someday they are going to make a movie about it called "Shake N Bake."

Actually I was hoping for news on prodcution of Tron 2.

While they're at it they should make the Max Headroom movie already... and since Jim Carrey 'borrowed' his schtick from Matt Frewer's famous character in the first place, he could go the whole hog and just play the part.

Don't think Hollywood won't make this flick. Sounds like pure Doug Adams fare to me.
