a director with a Best Foreign film Oscar? not too shabby. certainly better than getting some no-name hack with no kind of film credentials.

Interesting. Movie went up a notch from "Don't want to waste my time seeing it". Now lets see if they'll make it rated R so they can have Wolverine be the bad-*** that he's supposed to be. It'd be nice to see his claws actually inflict some damage.

I'd like to see a Wolverine film. I would love to see them do the Origin storyline from the comics. That would be fun. And I doubt it'll be R, though. But who knows, it could be.

I love this choice because "Tsotsi" was a great film which he did a very good job on. I think with the character of Wolverine with Jackman play him and Gavin Hood directing that this could be really one to anticipate.

I'm betting 21 days.

He did a fair amount of damage in X2, slashing and stabbing people; but your right, we need more of that. It was probably the best part of X2, seeing Wolverine actually "mortally wounding" people.

Oh well Hugh Jackman must know best.

I'm not saying this is a bad choice, but I'm not saying it's a good one. I'm just saying that Jackman's opinion on the whole thing really means very little to a Wolverine fan. It's not as though Jackman is the ultimate Logan. He's good, but doesn't quite fit the character. If that's the kind of judgement we're relying on, then I would expect the same out of the director. Good, but probably not the best choice.

The first two X-Men are HIGHLY overrated, as is Singer. The dude makes boring movies with wooden characters. His only good movie is Suspects and that's due to the story, not the direction.

Count me in the "not excited in the slightest" category. The three X films were boring with sub-par effects work. And Wolverine's hair? Jesus H Christ...who has hair like that in real life?

The whole franchise needs a reboot to weekly television with Joss Whedon writing.

Umm did you just say you didn't like the x men movies cause his hair wouldn't be in plausible in the real world? You are aware its a comic about fictional characters right? Yeah, you know what i didn't like them either because nobody can have blue hair and skin like nightcrawler and beast.

Look the xmen trilogy wasn't amazing but look at the what the movie is about, a comic book, its not supposed to have amazing acting with extremely 3-dimensional character, its supposed to be fun with cool fight scenes and completely ridiculous characters.

Oh, and television is a horrible idea, you didn't like the effects in the movies? How in the hell do you think television is going to look?

What a coincidence, I just rented Tsotsi earlier today and loved it. A simple story told in only 90 minutes, but it packs an emotional punch few films are able to even an hour longer. Great characters and performances, too.

I'm all of a sudden looking forward to an X-Men spinoff. Rendition sounds good too!

I don't mind this choice.
I agree Hugh Jackman is a charismatic actor but his opinions on directors don't mean much. Remember how he was very positive about Ratner possibily doing it.

I found Tsotsis' story underwhelming, but it had grit, engaging visual style not dissimiliar to 'City of God' & a dramatic earnestness that could suit the Wolvie solo film. Interesting choice. Looking forward to the result.

I agree with the people saying Jackman's opinion doesn't mean much; I can only imagine how enthusiastic he was about 'Van Helsing' a couple of years ago. I'm sure that director was going to bring a 'unique style' to the project.

..and to the dude writing in all-caps on the last page with the George Bush spelling of 'Tomato' for a name, ..decaf, my friend. Decaf. Whatever you think of X3, no franchise is beyond saving. See, e.g., Batman Begins from the ashes of Batman and Robin. At its most convoluted, cheesy moment, X3 never came close to the unforgivable tripe that was B&R, and yet people are blowing their loads in anticipation of the next Batman movie.
