blank blank writes: on Oct 30 2007 08:21 AM even though this should be pretty cool, i still cant get over the fact that the people who wrote the script only used the first episode of the comic to write the movie (before the rest of the comic even came out!) this is not Wanted. its (Reply to this) |

digitalsoul68 writes: on Oct 30 2007 11:22 AM The story COMPLETELY DEVIATES from the graphic novel. Already it's got a big negative against it. Booo. And you can tell from the GN that Jolie's part was originally intended for Halle Berry. But after Catwoman, maybe they made the right decision. Still, rental at best for *****ing up what would have been a great story. (Reply to this) |

theunrulyone writes: on Oct 30 2007 01:26 PM I am so sick of Angelina Jolie in action roles, or for that matter, in general. Yes she is hot (in more ways than one) and she will bring in the money (which is what movie making is all about), but she is so tired. Come to think of it, everything in this movie is tired. A gun shooting two guns in two different directions? Never seen that before, oh wait, yes I have; I call it the Matrix, I call it Lethal Weapon, I call it Hitman. And oh look, there's a chick in leather on top of a train. Mission Impossible? Die Hard with a Vengeance? I know hollywood is out of ideas, but these shots really make me think that this movie is going to suck hard. The only remotely cool thing about the shots are the ones of Morgan Freeman, and that's only because you don't usually see him in the role of a gun-toting badass. As far as making this from the comic: I think it would be extremely difficult to turn Wanted the comic book into a movie true to said comic book. There is too much wacky stuff that goes on in the comic that to make this a live-action straight up version would make it even more ridiculous than its already going to be. I mean, the ending of the comic by itself would be hard to pull off. I am not saying it couldn't be done, but it would be extremely difficult to do it well. In my opinion, Wanted is an unfilmable comic, so I ask why didn't they call this movie something else, and then just say it was inspired by the comic by Millar and Jones. Oh, and as a final gripe: I hate that they are putting a white woman in a black woman's role. That's right, the Fox was black in the comic, as she should be in the movie. This is like when they got Michael Duncan Clarke to play the Kingpin in that Daredevil POS. In Daredevil's case it was probably a mix of size (both Clark and the Kingpin are HUGE) and playing the equality card. In the case of Wanted its box office success hotness over authenticity. Oh well, this movies going to be a big steaming turd anyway. (Reply to this) |

blank blank writes: on Oct 30 2007 01:50 PM director is some russian dude named tim bickaoifjifueffewoff, he did night wathc/day watch. as for white/black people in black/white roles.... who cares? they already changed EVERYTHING about the comic, who cares if the halle berry role is played by angelina jolie? its not like they are casting tom hanks as malcolm x or ashton kutcher as MLK Jr. its a character from an obscure comic book... but i agree with you about jolie... yawn (Reply to this) |

highdough writes: on Oct 30 2007 01:51 PM I'm sick of nerds whining about how a movie doesn't do this or that in relation to your beloved comic book. Get a life people! Most comic book movies suck, anyway. I've never really understood why one would want to see exactly what they read in a comic book or regular book anyway. I mean, don't you pretty much know what happens, anyway? What's the point? (Reply to this) |

blank blank writes: on Oct 30 2007 01:57 PM i dont classify myself as a "nerd" but lets assume this: i read the part in superman comics where superman crash lands and grows up on a farm. then i say to myself "this is awesome, he's an alien kid on a farm!", then i write a movie script about how that kid goes on to be a lawyer, and uses his super legal skills to save his farm from a diabolical multinational coorporation that dumped toxic waste on his land by suing them, and then called the movie "Superman: Man of Steel" which is basically what happened in this instance. people who know the superman comic would say "wtf? this isnt superman". thats all. southwick writes: on Oct 30 2007 02:49 PM To Highdough Most comic book movies suck because they deviate from what made the original material great, and instead make a crap movie. Its kind of weird how the good comic book movies have a tendency to take directly, or at least keep the same feel/tone/ideas, from the source material. (Reply to this) |

Kimmycat24 writes: on Oct 31 2007 07:17 AM Great shots! I am not a comic book fan at all but this movie looks good. Angela Joile isn't an actress that I like that much but her role is sort of a caricature anyway. Who cares what race she is. I just loved the shots of Morgan Freeman and James McAvoy. I have always liked Morgan Freeman but Jasmes McAvoy is one of my favorite actors right now. He is very talented. I will go to see this movie. I think it will surprise a lot of people. CoUcH ToMaToE DoUgIe writes: on Oct 31 2007 01:30 PM hey, lets be nice boy and girls... we are still talking about Miss Angelina Jolie who deserves a bit more respect than we are giving her. hey, any movie staring her i'll give a look and i hope to love her even more in Beowulf. still, i understand all the pain from the comic book fans about their story being ruined but hey no one ever leaves happy with comic book adaptations.. at least entirely. there are always problems and the fact that hollywood has seen you can put a piece of possesed evil dog crap on a stick, fantastic four, and get idiots to come then they will never learn. i am sorry but its just the way it is and i wish the best for you with your film. P.S. please Stop with all the anexoric criticisms on Angelina's weight, please!!! She not some stupid worthless *****, like a nicole ritchie, that we all can enjoy hammering away until we feel better about destroying a bad person. she is a legend and lets all hope and pray our beloved angie gets help and becomes the #1 sex icon in the world again. It's always sad to see a legend like angie so thin but please no insults for a woman who still every man, and woman;) would make love with in a nanosecond and be a dream come true to do it. I e-mailed the trailer to my little brother and some of my friends. Everyone emailed me back with positive comments. I too loved Morgan Freeman's narration. I am not a huge fan of action movies but this is one that I want to see. (Reply to this) |
