Carla has a smokin hot body which we all saw in sin city, but it will be strange to see her with that same body on a character in her 60's.

Sex symbol my ***. Jessica Alba is a sex symbol, Scarlett JoHassen is a sex symbol. But then again, this is a beautiful actress.

I know absolutely nothing about Watchmen. Does this have the makings of a good movie or a dud?

I don't know, what would you consider a comic-book movie with little actual "action" and an abundance of clever storytelling, in-depth character development and social commentary.

Hell yeah, she's a very nice addition. And a very underrated actress. I'm much happier with her being cast than I would be with Alba or Scarlett.

Jmo2ski: I think the writer was implying that her *chrarcter* Jupiter is the "costumed adventurer / sex symbol." If you'll recall, "The Watchmen" was not chock full of sexy characters...

Considering she's playing Malin Akerman's mother, I would hope so. Alba and Johansson would never in a million years even be up for this part, nor should they be.

Jessica alba, a sex symbol? not anymore! didnt anyone see her in FF4 2 ? We were laughing at her all the way through that film. What color is she? we settled for gold. she looked weird! this chick looks hot!

You have a director who makes visual pieces with no substance & a graphic novel that was not made for movie adaptation. This film will be crap.

Whether or not the comic was made for adaptation (and many excellent films come from source material written before there was such a thing), Dave Gibbons seems enthusiastic:

Snyder hasn't done much, but he has done solid adaptations of someone else's material. Also, he has a cast with a lot of potential in front of him. I'll be surprised if it's not a good film.

No one yet has commented that Sally Jupiter in Watchmen is this big-boned, red-headed, unquestionably masculine looking Polish woman who denies her immigrancy to the point of dropping her ethnic name of Juspeczyk or something like that. Carla Gugino doesn't have the body type, the hair or the masculinity. She's the first casting decision that leaves me scratching my head. Venus Williams would have been a better choice.

Scroll down at the link to see a hanging picture of Sally Jupiter on the Dave Gibbons poster. She doesn't look very masculine to me...

if that is masculine... perhaps a redefinition of the gender roles are in order... hmmmmm... Carla is a good choice... not only is she attractive but she has also got quite a range of acting chops.

I don't know anything about The Watchmen, but the cast roster is huge, so if all of those people have decent sized roles I don't see how the movie could possibly have enough time for character development.

I never saw Dawn of the Dead, but I thought 300 was terrific, and both were well received by the critics, so I wouldn't be too hard on Snyder. He's not Michael Bay, for gods sakes. I also know nothing about the comic book, but Snyder has shown he can work very well with the material he is given.

As for Carla Gugino, I almost stopped watching Spin City when her character was written out after the first season.

Ok so both Dawn of the Dead and 300 were good but neither of them had an ounce of logic behind them. I don't know how the hell Snyder could possibly pull this one off. I'd rather see someone like J. J. Abrams since he knows how to balance screen time between a lot of characters after Lost. Or someone with a certain quirkiness like Terry Gilliam. Or someone who can make silly costumes look credible like Christopher Nolan. Really, Snyder doesn't know a thing about dialog, something that Watchmen relies on more than anything else.

hey, if anyone ever questions carla's sex symbol status check out sin city

again and then zip over to hbo and see her unfortunately limited, and now defunct agent

cahracter on entourage. she was briefly managing vincent chase career after he left

the greatest agent ever, ari gold. i mean when she bedded vinnie, to get rid of the

sexual frustration between them, it was vision of a goddess! and then stupid vinnie

dumped her after the boys felt she blew his chance of his beloved medillian contract.

so, let metell you folks this watchmen movie is a gurantee hit now with A BONOFIDE SEX

SYMBOL, CARLA GUIGINO! Man entourage hasn't been the same since she, and Sloan(!), left!
