Consensus: Implausible coincidences and an overly convoluted structure make the movie hard to follow or believe.

Josh Hartnett is Matthew, a good-looking young man who has a great job and an even greater girlfriend. But just before he's about to get on a plane to China and score his first major account, the past comes back to haunt him. Matthew runs into his good friend Luke (Matthew Lillard), who is dating a mysterious actress, Alex (Rose Byrne). Suddenly he is reminded of Lisa (Diane Kruger), a beautiful dancer he dated years before. But the day after he asked her to move in with him, Lisa disappeared. Now Matthew's search for his long lost love is renewed. The harder he looks, the more the truth gradually, and devastatingly, begins to reveal itself. McGuigan's stylish, convoluted thriller shifts between the past and present, preventing viewers from solving the puzzle until the film's closing act. Featuring an outstanding soundtrack from some of modern rock's most celebrated artists (Coldplay, Mazzy Star, Broken Social Scene), WICKER PARK also boasts engaging performances from its cast of pretty young faces. Sums up everything that's wrong with American remakes of foreign films: it's dumbed down so far, it's just plain dumb.

A slick movie with a nice-looking cast and a script that strips away everything that made the original so elusive and involving.

While the cast is beautiful to look at, by the time the movie reveals what's really going on, you'll be struck with more boredom than shock.

What begins as a pleasantly utilitarian thriller gradually decays into a mediocre suspense drama and ends as an irritatingly feeble love story called Wicker Park...

It’s a softer portrait of mental instability, and a revenge picture mixed with Splenda instead of Jack Daniels.

There's no way we could possibly miss Wicker Park's essential emptiness. Not with the underpowered cast straining to strike sparks that just aren't there.
