info. still, i gues next year really is the year of the comic book movie with now four

huge projects coming to theatre(incredible hulk, dark knight, iron man and wolverine)

i hope they all do well and when i mean well i mean done critically well, i simply don't

care about that misleading damning box office. still, hope dark knight outshine them

all. but, IF wolverine could, AND SHOULD, be rated R then i am putting my hope chest

next to James Howlett solo flick. For those who read ORIGINS, then you know who james

is.

just an untalented wrestler who did a good job portraying creed's savage side. but then

again is there much more to creed than his savage aspect? well, anyway i just think

you can get anyoe to act imposing as a savage beast and hey if tyler mane can prove he's

half the actor dwayne "the rock" johnso is then maybe i will be o-kay with him coming

@jmo2ski: X-men isn't supposed to be dark? I hope you're being sarcastic. Have you ever picked up and actually read an issue? Especially recently? Not too long ago I saw Rachael Summers' entire extended family butchered by the Shiar Death Squad. So yeah, Spidey it is not, and I hope they realize that with this Wolverine movie and steer it away from the direction Ratner tried to take it which was this flashy, campy, toned-down bore of a film in X3. I'm liking what I've heard of Wolverine so far. Can't wait. :)

The blob? what the hell? Why would blob be in this? jesus christ. The Marvel mind ***** continues. There are a ton of great villains associated with wolverine: Sabretooth, Silver Samurai, Deathstrike, Omega Red... the list goes on. Blob is an X-men villain. That ship has sailed. God dammit. If there's a giant monstrousity to be used in the telling of the Wolverine story it should be the Hulk. Look it up.

I never undstand when people make this argument, especially when no other film in the franchise has had an R rating, like a harsher rating is going to make for a better film when the films that came before it did fine with the PG-13 ratings they had. While Wolverine has always been a violent character in the books, the violence has never been too terribly graphic (at least not in a realistic way like in the current "Punisher" MAX book), and I don't understand why it ever SHOULD be. It's all about the action, the fights, and the stunts, like in a Bond movie or something, not the gore. The Bond and Bourne franchises, and even the DIE HARD franchise, have shown that you can do some crazy, brutal stuff and not have it deemed TOO violent for the young'uns to see.

This reminds me, I was at work one day a few years ago when a co-worker was telling someone about the Italian Job (which was in theaters at the time) and how they'd seen it and thought it was a really good movie. The guy he was talking to said something like "Yeah, I was going to see that, but it's only PG-13, so I went and saw Matrix Reloaded instead, because it was R. I don't live in a PG-13 world." My co-worker came back immediately to that bull***** remark with something like "But you live in a world where we have to fight giant machines and everyone is programmed to know kung-fu? You're an idiot".

In many cases, the difference between a film getting a PG-13 and an R can be a few lines of dialogue or a little blood, hardly anything major that would change the actual QUALITY of a film. That's like saying that a film that sucked for 90 minutes straight in a theater is actually going to be better on DVD because it's "Unrated" and has 45 seconds worth of material that's "too extreeeeeeeme for theaters". More doesn't necessarily mean better. It just means more. The Wolvie-related action in the X-Men films has been great for the most part, so as long as the action in the solo flick is at least on par with that, then who cares if blood isn't spilling over every frame of film.

excellent point jacog, i thought the same thing when i watched the Matrix trilogy a few weeks ago and noticed it was R. go watch Pirates 3 and tell me thats not MORE violent and full of innuendo. the thing canNOT and will NOT be rated R guys. we've already discussed this. if you have sellout-Die Hard going pg13 just to get a few more million...why would you do the COMPLETE opposite and alienate the high school crowd? AND you also take away the parents who want to take their 8 or 9 year old to see it as well. parents will take their younger than 13 kids to a pg13(pirates, simpsons)...but they won't take them to an R rated flick, sorry. honestly, i'd love to see a bad3ss Hugh Jackman slicin' and dicin' as well but...it wont' happen. at best, you'd be lucky to get an "unrated" bs dvd come out. which always means, .03 seconds of a nipple or an ounce more blood.

Keep in mind the movies came out 8 years from each other. If The Matrix didn't release until this year it would've been PG-13. If not, then **** the MPAA.

The violence in X-men has never been too terribly graphic? As it pertains to Wolverine? That's simply not true. Especially not in the Claremont era where hardly a panel with wolverine in it passed without him being soaked in blood. It would surely be better if the made it rated R. Watching him fight Deathstrike in the second one made me realize how lame a bloodless Wolverine fight is. Compare it to the amazing fight they had in X-men 205 and it's a joke.

brian singer should have stayed with mystery movies. his adaptations of x-men sucks! hugh jackman could pass for Wolverine's looks but his persona just felt like a bad day thats fitted with an average white-collar professional who's late for a Niners game! Now lets clean up after these poor installments of this magnificent character let alone the x-men!

Some important things that needs to be seriously explored into making this character come to life on the silverscreen.

1)Denial
2)Cockiness
3)Pain
4)Rebellious
5)Berserker Rage!

Get the audience feeling these emotions damnit!

More visual effects, better complex choreographed fight sequences with little slow motions and wires that make the stunt men look like they are hanging stiff than fluid swift!

Why not throw in Omega Red while there at it! Or Cyber! The x-men movies have not been linear to the comics, with that lets make this one really jump with the mentioned characters.

Sabretooth? there was no Sabretooth in the first x-men movie just a wrestler who hasn't been to a barbor shop since Andre the Giant gave his title away to Hogan.

Wolverine's been through a lot, anything is possible, after all everyone knows he has amnesia so it would be no surprise if he's more wolverine than in the previous flicks a perfect explanation to why he is now so mellow.

in wolverine i think he should fight darth maul and happy gilmore while willy wonka rubs one out in front of the entire cast of babylon 5. also making a cameo is tom brady who gets ripped apart and barfed on by the borg queen a tremor and barf from spaceballs.

Ok..well i am new to posting on sites like this..But as for the x-men movies..first two..good...last one...well i think there is a lot that needs to have been done..As for wolverine..I haven't read all of his comics. I do have a friend who has..I was told he and sabertooth worked together on the weapon x project..Memories are erased after each and every mission. That is one thing i didn't know. So yes..They could do a Sabertooth..if they do..I didn't have a problem with the person who did play him..The question i have for everyone..Who do you suggest if it was up to you to play the various villians..including sabertooth? I can't wait to see it come out..As for the rating. Well you will alienate a large chunk of the fan base since they are under 17 if you go to the r rating. I understand the idea but i don't agree with the rating system in the first place. Titanic was a pg-13 and it had some very steamy scenes..in most movies that would have been an r. I just can't wait till Wolvie comes out. I wish they did go to his Madripor roots as well.

They are comic book movies people, very few comics are "great" pieces of work. People who think Wolverine is a great literary character and ***** and moan about his portrayal not being Oscar worthy are insane. What do you really expect? He wasn't dark and cocky enough? We didn't feel for the characters enough? He's a freakin' super-hero. They save the day and look cool doing it. They have cool, complicated back stories but that changes every time the book gets a new staff, Wolverine apparently has been involved in every historical event in history, he keeps getting older every time they do an origins, the Weapon X team changes every time the recap it, he suddenly has a real name that's not Logan, you think Len Wein and John Romita made up all this stuff when they first created him to fight The Hulk? (Yes he was a one shot side character that happened to get picked up by The X-men later down the line). Look, the first two X-men movies were enjoyable. Wolverine and co. fight villains and are treated badly by regular humans and save the world, the end. Singer did a decent job making them mainstream enough to gather a following outside of the fan-boys and Jackman made him cool and rebellious, and jump started his career. You want more character development? well they went out and got a good director, not a blockbuster director, a good one. You want to stick closer to the comics? Looks like they are going into the whole Weapon X thing and setting up how one of the best hero/villain match-up's in comic history started. So shut up and wait till it comes out to complain your little heads off about how this one movie ruined Wolverine and your life, geez.

It's very simple, (well actually it's not simple at all.) It come from the fact that Wolverine's healing factor plays havoc on his long term memory. You might recall that when Xavier first talks to Wolverine, telepathically, he mentions that Wolverine can't recall how long he's been on the run, and has very little idea as to why. When he first mets Sabertooth, he does sense something familiar, he just doesn't know what.
As for Creed? He's known Wloverine way longer than Weapon X, and Creed is well aware of this flaw in Wolverine's memory. Sabertooth doesn't want Wolverine's memory jog, so he just plays it low key. He gets a kick out seeing the confusion in Wolverine's eyes.

dude, who cares that there wasn't a big hug and kiss scene between wolvie and sabertooth, just as long as there's some cool stuff in the Wolverine movie. And yes Tyler Mane has to be cast as sabertooth he was perfect. please tell me they aren't trying to cast Vinnie Jones as the Juggernaut though, they need to get that big MOFO from the beginning of Troy, he was also in Hero, and The Protector. Does anyone know his name???
