It's so rare that I can't find anything to nitpick about in a movie.

On the inaugural day of his university's literary festival, Grady's third wife leaves him and his mistress, university chancellor Sara Gaskell (McDormand), announces that she's pregnant with their child. Her husband Walter (Thomas), the self-absorbed chair of the English department, suspects nothing, but with a baby on the way scandal looms just over the horizon. To further complicate matters, Grady's reckless editor Terry Crabtree (Downey), desperate to revive his flaccid career, flies in from New York to pick up the manuscript for Grady's seven-years-in-the-making follow-up to his critically acclaimed first book -- but at 2612 pages, it remains far from finished. As if that weren't enough to keep him reeling, Grady soon becomes an unwilling accomplice to a canine homicide and the heist of a rare jacket once worn by Marilyn Monroe, both committed by his brightest student -- the languid, slightly pathological James Leer (Maguire). Dressed in a ratty pink bathrobe and driving a stolen car with a dead dog in the trunk, Grady must now find a way to return Marilyn's coat, write the great American novel, nurture James's literary talents, discourage the advances of an amorous co-ed (Holmes), avoid the wrath of a petite James Brown look-alike (Knox), and reconcile with Sara...all before the weekend is over! Reviews for Wonder Boys
Douglas is exquisitely subtle in this film; I love it when he takes time out from playing wealthy, power-hungry jerks to craft a real character, and this one is not an easy creation.
...a movie of small pleasures and gentle comedy. One has to be careful not to overpraise it.
A mid-winter delight -- wry, surprising, bittersweet and not to be missed.
Yes, the film is often hilarious and surprisingly exciting, but it's really an expertly crafted, intelligent character piece, a mature film about inspiration and choices.
Billed as a comedy, Wonder Boys is about as amusing as a driver’s license exam.
Un guión inteligente; un elenco maravilloso y una carga de humor negro irresistible
A clever and convincing comedy that demonstrates an affection for oddballs who don't fit in anywhere.
The ending, when it comes, is poignant and true, and it comes at exactly the right place.
Douglas is certainly captivating and bathrobe comfortable in his role as the grovelly, pot-toking intellectual.
Arguably one of the best films to grace the screen last year, this film got snubbed by the Academy. See it anyway.
While Wonder Boys doesn't match the superb L.A. Confidential, it's a disarming comedy of discomfort.
Wonder Boys becomes about nothing and about everything in unison--the sheer randomness of its twists mirrors the boredom and inevitability of life's challenges.
A movie about nobodies, who live in nowheresville, talk about no one and do nothing. Nothing squared.
