by Scott Weinberg | April 27, 2007

Summary

He's had his hand in a whole bunch of superhero flicks, and you can now add another one on to the filmography of writer/director David S. Goyer. He'll be directing and (re-)writing the "Magneto" flick for Fox. Back to Article

You're being too hard on Goyer. Way I see it, you can say what you want about the outcome of the Blade series, but Goyer's work on Training Day and Batman Begins should earn him at least an iota of respect.

I'm interested in seeing it because I like the character and X-men. I DON'T want to see it because it seems pretty pointless.

If it were some other villain, I"d agree. But this is Magneto. The best villains have something in their background that justifies their villainy and challenges your calculated hatred of them. And by that standard, Magneto's got one of the best villain backstories out there. Add to that his friendship with Xavier and you've got some great material for a film.
