The plot of the film adaptation of "Silent Hill" is online, Comingsoon.net reports. The film, based upon the popular video game, involves a woman desperately trying to save her child, who is trapped in a strange town haunted by demons. Meanwhile, the humans in town are fighting the forces of darkness. "Silent Hill" will be directed by Christophe Gans ("Brotherhood of the Wolf"); the screenplay was written by Roger Avary.

Why can't they leave it so it is just the mother? No other humans "fighting the forces of darkness". Silent Hill is scary because you are all alone and you know it, adding others will ruin it. At least I think so.

I agree, the games have always been based around a sole person fighting the forces of evil within Silent Hill

Adding "town's folk" and such seems like a blatant attempt to make this a zombie movie, which would be a real shame. Silent Hill has always been about surreal horror, not shooting up demons with Matrix-Style bullet effects and big explosions.

Besides, anyone else "normal" found in a Silent Hill game is usually oblivious or impervious to the happenings of the town, making it all the more unsettling and disturbing. God, make video game films true to the source, or don't make them at all.

Totally agree. That's what makes the "Silent" in Silent Hill right, right!? Fear = isolation.
Not a bunch of randomly added b-list movie stars.

Such a shame, if done properly it could be a great film. IMO - and my friends, anyway.

Well, in the second and fourth one there were a few people who knew about the demons.

Although most of the towns folk were crazy, deranged freaks too.

So as long as it isn't a zombie movie that's fine. Because the things I saw in the game were DEFINITELY not zombies. They made zombies look tame.

I often wonder why filmmakers seem incapable of adapting something to the big screen without making pointless changes to the source material. Why get rid of the demons from Doom? Why get rid of the isolation factor which made Silent Hill so scary? I don't know about anyone else, but my only reply is 'mallum non sapiens'- damned if I know.

have you forgotten the motives of the doctor from the original silent hill, and the detective from the third? they had ways of going about ending the chaos, different from the hero/heroine in some cases. i hope there won't be any kind of humor in the movie, and the soundtrack sticks to the composer of the game's music, or in the same vein.

I agree with you guys. This movie is going to suck, so dont put your hopes up. Why cant a fan direct the movie or something, there are many talented people out there. There going to probably make it like a bunch of people with HPK, and Desert Eagles, killing zombies. While solving a dumb ass puzzle. This goes to comparrison with the village, they say it sucked. But it was actually a really good movie is that people want to see guns a hollywood stuff. We have been brain wacthed by hollywood movies. They are going to make it so it can sell. Retards. Old people are real stupid with technology and there ideas are real lame. We need a younger generation to film. Sorry for my grammar, im kind of nuts.
