John Wells Productions has optioned "The Known World," the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Edward P. Jones, Variety reports. Anna Deavere Smith will adapt the book to the screen. The historical novel is based on the lives of African Americans who owned slaves in the Antebellum south.
