Sony to Bring Old-School Comic "Killraven" to the Big Screen
by Scott Weinberg | March 21, 2005
Discuss Article
Variety brings news of yet another Marvel comic book adaptation that's just about to get underway: the relatively obscure 1970's comic book "Killraven." Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Robert Schenkkan ("The Quiet American"Wink is in talks to adapt the property into feature-length form. For those unfamiliar with the tale, Variety describes it thusly: "Set in a future where mankind has been enslaved by an alien race, storyline follows a man who, though born in captivity, rises through gladiatorial battles to become the leader of a group of revolutionaries." Sony plans to release the flick as a big-time "tentpole" release, which means you'll most likely be seeing it during the summer months.

well, theres one i didn't expect
this could be rather intersting. a bit of an old fringe marvel comic there. from what i understand, its kinda like a freedom fighter meets war of the worlds. i'll see if i still have some bio information on the character lying around someplace

marverl properties
While I liked Killraven as an example of obscure Marvel properties from the seventies, I think some more interesting titles could have been chosen. The Adam Warlock comics of Jim Starlin would be excellent source material for cosmic/mystical entertainment that would compare to Silver Surfer (which is being adapted).
