by Scott Weinberg | April 13, 2005
Discuss Article
Rob Cohen talks about his upcoming "The 8th Voyage of Sinbad" in the current issue of Entertainment Weekly, and ComingSoon.net shares the relevant information with those of us who rely on the internet for our movie news. As reported earlier, Keanu Reeves will be stepping into the role of Sinbad, and director Rob Cohen ("XXX," "Stealth"Wink has enlisted the assistance of legendary FX guru Ray Harryhausen, who will join the production is a creative consultant.Cohen also says he wants to bag Zhang Ziyi, Djimon Hounsou, Jet Li, and Hayden Christensen for supporting roles and that his "Sinbad" adaptation will almost certainly be a PG-level family adventure. For the full story, you can either pick up the newest issue of EW or take a quick visit to ComingSoon.

Don't get me wrong I like Keanu, but he's only good in roles where the lead can come across kind of dopey. Sinbad needs to be high energy, something I've never seen from Keanu in any role.

Jet Li?!
Interesting...Now, it sounds more and more like Pirates of the Caribbean II (with Chow Yun-Fat).

REEVES?
o, what a bad descion casting Keanu, he is one of the worst actors in the buisness right now and cannot take a leading role. Bad desion, they should have choosen some one upbeat, and enterjetic, not reeves. But Jet Li would add alot to this movie, I dont understand why Hayden is getting a role, didnt like him in Star Wars Attack of the Clones, and was suprised that someone did. But the movie could go either way, like the Hulk, which bombed

Keanu can be good, but I woory more that they will forget about the script amongst all the SPFX.

At least they have Harryhausen on board... Too bad he's just an FX consultant.

Wasn't Keanu high energy as Ted?.

I think he can do it..i am just worried that its going to be another Pirates..or worse..a movie like the one with Geena Davis (what was that called?)

The cast, the director and Ray H are big plusses but its a fine line between cheesy and great family entertainment..

I think The Rock would be a cool Sinbad.
