Nicolas Cage Talks "Ghost Rider"
by Scott Weinberg | June 17, 2005
Discuss Article
ComingSoon's Andrew Weil sat down for a chat with actor the ever-busy Nicolas Cage, and the actor gave up some pretty interesting information regarding next year's "Ghost Rider" adaptation: "Well, he's the devil's bounty hunter. One of his rules is that he will never take a human being's life. But he will go after demons, other demons, and this movie's loaded with what they call The Hidden, which are these elemental demons that Mephistopheles, or Black Heart, Mephistopheles' son, is using, and so the Ghost Rider goes into battle with them more than the people."

And regarding the hero's weapons against the forces of evil? " He has these wonderful abilities, like hellfire and the chain that he can use and swing, and then he has the penance stare, where you can look at someone and make them review every bad, horrible thing they've ever done to anybody and then feel it and feel the pain of all their mistakes and sins and basically reduce you to a human jellyfish."

"Ghost Rider," which also stars Wes Bentley ("American Beauty"), Sam Elliott ("Road House"), and Peter Fonda ("Easy Rider"), is presently scheduled for release in August 2006. Mark Steven Johnson ("Daredevil") wrote the screenplay and directed "Ghost Rider" as well. Check out ComingSoon for the full interview.

vomit on my keyboard
it's hard to type my rep[ly with chunks of yesterday's pizza - how the fuck would anybody greenlight a movie directed by the douchebag that killed daredevil? how he took such a great character and storyline and turned out such shit is beyond me. but now he's going to fuck up ghost rider. daredevil in capable hands could have been really sweet - instead of the crap he put together.

meanwhile go see batman begins to see how it's suppose to be done.

i agree completely, mark steven johnson is a talentless idiot and will undoubtedly turn ghost rider into a pointless waste of time, money, and respectable source material. hollywood needs to follow the example set by batman begins, which in my opinion is the best comic book movie to date.

Marvel has become greedy, while DC is getting all the good directors now. And Cage has sucked ever since winning the Oscar.

I as well totally agree. With that screenwriter choice, it says that, giving the option to hit a home run, they choose to bunt. what has this guy ever did that was even remotely ambitious writing wise? I guess the best we can hope for now is that it will be an okay movie. please someone tell me i'm being overly pessimistic.

Did any of you see the director's cut of Daredevil? It really makes the movie ridiculously better. It's the stuff they cut out to make DD tamer that made it suck. There was a hella good movie buried in it, despite their repeated attempts to screw it up. So Ghost Rider has its potential.

If not, we can wait for Ghost Rider: Director's Cut to come to DVD so we can see some real quality.
