Fry & Serkis Sign Up to Be "Stormbreakers"
by Scott Weinberg | July 19, 2005
Discuss Article
Andy "Gollum" Serkis and Stephen Fry are only the latest actors to sign on for the teen spy flick "Stormbreaker," says The Hollywood Reporter. Based on the series of books by Anthony Horowitz, "Stormbreaker" is about a reluctant teenage spy who, of course, gets into all sorts of wild adventures.

Geoffrey Sax ("White Noise") will be in the director's chair, and Mr. Horowitz will stay on board to adapt his book into screenplay form.

Serkis will play the henchman to Mickey Rourke's evil villain, and the rest of the cast includes names like Bill Nighy, Ewan McGregor, Missi Pyle, Sarah Bolger, Sophie Okonedo, and Alicia Silverstone. Newcomer Alex Pettyfer has snagged the lead role of pubescent gumshoe Alex Rider.

The plot doesn't sound that great and I don't care for Sax. But I'll watch anything with Rourke, Nighy, McGregor, and Silverstone.
