"Hollow Man 2" Production Underway in Vancouver
Fangoria brings the news on the upcoming "Hollow Man 2," which stars Christian Slater, Laura Regan, and William McDonald, and will almost certainly debut on DVD shelves and not at your local cineplex.
The "Hollow Man" sequel, "directed by Claudio Fäh from a script by Dimension Films’ direct-to-video king Joel Soisson. Slater stars as a volunteer soldier/assassin who goes mad after he turns invisible. But unlike in the first film directed by Paul Verhoeven and starring Kevin Bacon, the latest Hollow Man faces an invisible protagonist this time, a cop trying to protect the story’s heroine (Regan).
"Yes, there are two Hollow Men, hence the title," a source close to the production tells Fango. "One is good and the other evil, and they duke it out. The fight scenes are awesome."
As before, the invisibility experiments affect the subjects both mentally and physically, though now, the characters become mutated once they reappear. "The guys look almost zombiefied, gruesome and disfigured," our contact says of the makeups. “Their cells are mutating, like in [Cronenberg’s "The Fly"]. You can compare them to the Elephant Man.""
Claudio Fah cut his directorial teeth with "Coronado," while the horror fans know Mr. Soisson quite well. As a writer, director, or producer he's given us "Dracula 2000," "Dracula 2: Ascension," "Dracula 3: Legacy," "The Prophecy," "The Prophecy 2," "The Prophecy 3: The Ascent," "The Prophecy: Uprising," "The Prophecy: Forsaken," "Highlander: Endgame," "Mimic 2," "Maniac Cop 3," "Hellraiser: Hellseeker," "Hellraiser: Hellworld," and "Children of the Corn: Revelation." So clearly this is the right guy to pen a "Hollow Man 2."

on Sep 01 2005 04:04 PM I liked Verhoeven's "Hollow Man" a lot I thoroughy enjoyed Paul Verhoeven's "Hollow Man," and thought it was one of the best sci-fi thrillers of recent years. I'm surprised some of you hated it that much. But I have little hope for the sequel, since the guy making it specializes in low-budget schlock. I doubt, though, it can be any worse than "Alone in the Dark." Christian Slater looks like he's about to join Wesley Snipes, Jean-Claude Van Damme and Steven Seagal in the straight-to-DVD club.
