"X-Files" Star to Wreak Vengeance in "Straightheads"

Gillian Anderson, fan favorite from her time spent on "The X-Files," will star in the British revenge drama "Straightheads," says Variety.

"Straightheads" is the story of a middle-class couple who embark on a spree of vengeful violence after they are assaulted by a gang."

Documentary filmmaker Dan Reed will make his narrative feature debut on the project, which is only one of several productions that FilmFour is hatching.

"David Mackenzie is prepping the left-field romance 'Hallam Foe,' starring Jamie Bell and Connie Nielsen. Bell plays a troubled teen from a broken family who falls for a woman identical to his dead mother. Nielsen will play his wicked stepmother.

Also, "Dead Man's Shoes" director Shane Meadows "will begin filming the autobiographical skinhead drama "This Is England" (previously called "Oi! This Is England") this month. Pic is based on the director's experiences as a preteen skinhead in early 1980s England."

All three of these movies sound interesting. And yea Anderson is pretty fine but Nielsen ain't to bad either.

As per this article below, I have lost all respect I had for her..What happened to her producing/directing that fine novel she bought several years ago when she first moved to UK she planned to make in Eastern Europe? Why can't she with her millions produce and direct some fine little independent films? She has been claiming she wanted to for a long time..direct and produce that is...Instead she sells out for what obviously is some kind of blatant Quentin Tarentino disgusting graphic sex and violence 'thriller'...And going all out with the disgusting gratutitous nudity and sex to boot!!

LIFE STYLE EXTRA (UK) - Former 'X Files' star Gillian Anderson is set to go topless on the big screen.

The beautiful red-head will bare her breasts in new British revenge thriller, 'Straightheads'.

An insider said: "There are two sex scenes... one more graphic than the other. There's quite a bit of sick violence thrown in as well."

The film - about a middle-class couple who go on a violent spree after being attacked in a country lane - is due out in the UK later this year.

Meanwhile, Anderson admits she has struggled to secure new acting roles since leaving Hollywood for the UK.

The actress admits she was left frustrated by her agent's failure to secure any new roles for her at last month's Golden Globe Awards.

She said: "My agent was trying to tell everyone I had done 'Bleak House' for the BBC but no one cared.

"In Hollywood, you are only as good as the last thing you were in and it's been a while since I've been in anything."

But Anderson admits she's is keen to go back to her 'X Files' roots

She revealed: "David Duchovny and I and creator Chris Carter are determined to do another.

"Hopefully, by the time we actually do it, whenever that is, people will still give a damn."

She took a starring role in a movie with a good script, which, incidentally, was published in 2003. Before you hurl more stupid accusations, check out this site:

This sounds nothing like a cheap Tarantino rip-off. People who saw an early screening of Straightheads, said sex and violence were an integral part of the story, in no way gratuitous. Apparently, the actors were very good too.

And remember, producing a movie takes years before it actually gets done.

The nudity and sex is not the issue here. What is? The script. Gillian has not been able to get roles in the US so she has 'turned around' an excellent dramatic performance in Bleak House for a poorly directed and poorly written script that fails right from its conception. It's a cheap film that lacks a strong storyline that is either logical or engaging for the audience and whose marketing empowerment is left to the devices of teasing X-file and Scully fans into thinking they are part of the process to get it passed a few theaters in London. If Helen Miren, Kate Winslett or Cate Blanchett are examples it is not being located in London that is causing Gillian to be on the short end of the stick in obtaining a quality female role. Most of those good roles are coming right out of England itself. There have been plenty of other issues surrounding her life that represents enough reason for her inability to break into a real film career beyond
the X-files along with some current bad choices. Gillian is the reason she is not living up to the high quality performances that she is MOST capable of delivering. She is one good actress that needs to make some better decisions.
