Dimension Has Visions of a "Black Christmas"

Dimension Films has acquired the U.S. distribution rights to the as-yet-unfilmed remake of Bob Clark's 1975 thriller "Black Christmas," says Variety. The redo will be written and directed by the "Final Destination" team of James Wong and Glen Morgan.

"Pic, which will begin lensing in January, is slated for a Christmas 2006 release. Wong and Morgan are producing, with Morgan writing and directing.

"Black Christmas" is about a killer who terrorizes a sorority house with phone calls before he begins to murder various sorority sisters during the holiday break."

Among the remake's several producers will be original director Bob Clark. The original "Black Christmas" starred Olivia Hussey, Keir Dullea, Margot Kidder, and John Saxon, and is considered by many to be one of the great-granddaddys of the slasher sub-genre.

They will never be able to top the original classic. Super film with the best ending ever made.

I was just worshipping this movie yesterday.
It's odd, yet tragic. I was just thinking of all the superb horror films that I've seen, and I remember thinking of this film. The whole "the call is being traced from your house" scenerio was originally from this film.

But I'm sure Hollywood will slaughter this remake just like the rest.....
