Critical Consensus: "Aeon Flux" Not Screened. Draw Your Own Conclusions
by Tim Ryan | December 01, 2005
Discuss Article | Blog Article | Email To A Friend
A cast that includes two Oscar winners (Charlize Theron and Frances McDormand) and some top-flight supporting players (Pete Postlethwaite and Jonny Lee Miller). A big-budget remake of a visionary, unique MTV cartoon. The sophomore film by a director (Karyn Kusama) whose debut ("Girlfight") won high praise (it's at 89 percent on the Tomatometer). So why wasn't "Aeon Flux," this week's only wide release, screened for critics? Uh, no points for guessing.

All we can say at this point is that "Flux" tells the tale of a futuristic assassin who lands herself in a world of trouble. We'd love to tell you what the critics thought of this one, but we can't, because they haven't seen it. So, dear and loyal readers of Critical Consensus, I ask that you guess what the Tomatometer will be. You won't win anything, other than mad props and respect from us here at Rotten Tomatoes.

I think Charlize Theron will keep it higher than Cry_Wolf, but not by much. From the looks of it, Theron is the only reason to see this movie.

And McDormand, you were in Fargo for god's sake, why would you need to make this pile of trash?

22% sounds about right, judging purely by the trailer (which is often a really bad idea).

I know it's high. Let's face it--There will always be the "faithful" geeks that flock to see this trash. Serenity NOW!!!

I am pretty sure that the critics will trash this film. They absolutely hate it when the studios don't allow screenings. Check out Ebert's "finger of shame." Even if it's watchable, they'll still tear it apart for not releasing a screen.

The only reason to see this would be because charlize theron is fairly attractive, and why is every single advertisment I see on this site for the damn movie, make it stop!!!

im gonna go with 57% because it looks mildly original and with so much talent involved to bring to life such rich source material, they cant go to wrong. Man its hard to type and smoke dope at the same time

Just saw the movie a few hours ago. And the action is very well done but the story line was lacking big and I could hardly sit through it. The good thing about it was that it was only about 1hr and half. Too many plot holes and not a very orginal story behind it. So I would get it a 2 out 5 stars. And I would say that the critics wont like it much either so probably around 10% maybe.

10 - 15%. Lets hope Charlize doesn't go the way Halle Berry did after her Oscar win. (Catwoman).

Comics to movie adaptations with a female lead have seemingly all done poorly (Electra, Catwoman). It's unfortunate.
