Uwe Boll Reading "Metal Gear Solid" Script
Much to the dismay of many videogame fans, Uwe Boll, or Dr. Uwe Boll as he is often referred to was sent a script for the film adaptation of the poplular videogame series "Metal Gear Solid."
"MGS" is a game based on tactical espionage with strong feelings against nuclear proliferation. Uwe Boll, who directed such films as "House of the Dead," "Alone in the Dark," and the just-released flop "Bloodrayne," is now being buzzed as being the next Ed Wood, but as Entertainment Weekly said, "(if he really is trying to achieve the title) he has to make these movies much worse if they're going to get any better."

Gareth writes: on Jan 16 2006 03:47 PM As I was told, just a script treatment. In the case of Postal, it was reported the deal was done. The game company asked me to send out that no deal was done and they had not met. They did meet him after that, liked what they heard and made a deal. He works outside the Hollywood system and his people tell me all sorts of things this system does to keep him down and sully his name. It does make for an interesting story. I know the films have issues, but each one has been better than the previous one and they make money when foreign DVD and releases are factored in. Believe it or not, Alone in the Dark was a huge seller in Germany and Europe. So, that and the fact that companies can work outside the studio system makes him a popular choice. (Reply to this) |

Gareth writes: on Jan 16 2006 03:53 PM FROM AP writer JEREMY HAINSWORTH Via a press Release sent to www.sknr.net "Dungeon Siege" follows the hard life of a lowly farmer, played by Jason Statham, who is on a mission to save his kidnapped wife and avenge the death of his child. The story line is woven into a fantasy backdrop of war in the Kingdom of Ehb between the evil sorcerer Gallian and the ruling King Konreid. The film also stars Ray Liotta, John Rhys-Davies, Burt Reynolds and Kristanna Loken. "I think he is got huge determination," said Rhys-Davies, who played dwarf Gimli in the "Lord of the Rings" blockbuster. "He reminds me of another Hollywood rebel in his own way. I mean George Lucas." Writer Director Uwe Boll has announced that one of his upcoming films is a Super Horror thriller named SEED. Not based on a game, SEED is described below.. "There's a rule that if you're electrocuted three times and you're still alive ... you go free," Boll said. In "Seed," the main character is subject to a failed electrocution, and desperate officials bury him alive. "He digs himself out of the grave and goes on a revenge trip," Boll said (Reply to this) |

Vefalu writes: on Jan 16 2006 04:00 PM "Time to choose..." Well, this Boll guy is ruining some potentially good titles. No doubts that if he gets his hands on the rights to MGS, he'll ruin it. I just hope he doesn't get Half-Life... (Reply to this) |

dylan21484nj writes: on Jan 16 2006 04:02 PM SEED sounds a lot like the third Crow film... jesus, why do people keep giving him money to make such abhorrent films? has "Dr. Boll" learned some clever hypnotism trick to get people to give him cash? could he have actually mastered the Jedi Mind Trick? please, someone stop him. end the madness! Gareth writes: on Jan 16 2006 04:04 PM I doubt he will get Half Life. It is a Vivendi Property, and that lines it up with Universal. However, in light of Valve splitting with them who knows. I can tell you this, Vivendi looked into it and never got it going so I am not sure where they are with it now. Word is E.A. is huge on making films from their titles and this would fit in now that they handle marketing. (Reply to this) |

I bet they're like the really poorly dubbed Kung Fu flicks everyone likes here. But if anyone gives him the rights to Metal Gear Solid, they will be very very sorry. (Reply to this) |

Koooomar writes: on Jan 16 2006 04:58 PM In reply to this comment (#829986) I'm the first guy to tell anybody to give a movie a chance. I saw HOTD, it was horrible. I saw alone in the dark, even worse. I probably will see bloodrayne also, and it probably wont be any good, but the point is, you never really know if a movie is good or not untill you actually see it. But if Uwe Boll does get the rights to metal gear solid, I WILL NOT WATCH IT! All the other games were all just mediocre in my view. I didnt really mind that he was messing with them because i didnt think they had much potential to be very good films anyway, but my god, MGS has the potential in my view to bring the Video games to movies franchise out of the gutter. It has unlimited potential, and if the makers of this game sell out and give their right over to uwe boll, well Damn them! dont be afraid man, i'll be right there with you, doing everything i possibly can to get Uwe bolls dirty hands off of it. Do they really need the money that badly??? Although, I have seen Statham's upcoming Guy Ritichie film 'Revolver' (also with Ray Liotta) and besides making no sense whatsoever, it was awfully pretentious. Those expecting another 'Lock, Stock..' or 'Snatch' will be disappointed. At least Madge isn't in it. Cheers, Kevin (Reply to this) |
