Razzie Winners (?) Announced
by Scott Weinberg | March 06, 2006
Discuss Article
Fans of bad movies have The Stinkers and The Razzies to look forward to every year, and now that the latter organization has announced their winners, we can put this issue to bed and enjoy the next ten months of cinematic ineptitude.

2005 Razzie Awards Winners

Worst Picture: "Dirty Love"
Worst Actor: Rob Schneider, "Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo"
Worst Actress: Jenny McCarthy, "Dirty Love"
Worst Supporting Actor: Hayden Christensen, "Star Wars Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith"
Worst Supporting Actress: Paris Hilton, "House of Wax"
Worst Screen Couple: Will Ferrell & Nicole Kidman, "Bewitched"
Worst Sequel: "Son of the Mask"
Worst Screenplay: Jenny McCarthy, "Dirty Love"
Worst Director: John Asher, "Dirty Love"

--

Yeah, so apparently they really hated the fish-in-a-barrel-ish "Dirty Love." For the rest of the winners/losers, head on over to the Razzies site.

Will Ferrell & Nicole Kidman... that's a bit unfair.

"Alone in the Dark" and "Dukes of Hazzard" surprisingly got away unscathed. I'm surprised, because those movies SUCKED!

I actually didn't think Hayden Christensen was all that bad in Revenge of the Sith...although he was completely awful in Episode 2!

Dirt Love? never heard of it. Pretty lame Razzies this year.

Poor Jenny McCarthy.... she makes one movie ever and get crapped on for it. At least rip on a movie someone has HEARD of. It couldn't possible have been as bad as 'War of the Worlds', 'Oceans' 12', or 'Dukes of Hazard'.
Oh, and what Omelette said.

Other worse movies...
How could I forget "A lowdown dirty shame"?????

WTF was I thinking when I paid real US currency to see that... and not one Razzie????

The Razzies have sucked for a while now. It's a shame, because they used to be good at identifying bad movies. Now all they're interested in is pop culture.

Maybe there needs to be a "Worst of the Razzies" site.

Paris Hilton really deserved it!
Hayden Christensen not so bad, I think Darth Vader had too much attention!

nothing was worse than 'The Longest Yard'. The most painfully unfunny Adam Sandler vehicle EVER.

I didn't see Dirty Love and never plan to.

I don't think that they're putting much effort into these awards anymore and now it seems that they're more interested in trashing personalities. Who cares what they do oustide of the movies? I agree with JMA; they used to be good at identifying bad movies and it used to be interesting to find the obscure ones just to see them.

the Razzies are now irrelevant
Hayden did not come close to Razzie territory, Star Wars fan or not. Due to Lucas' poor direction over actors (nothing new) we should Razzie the entire cast from S. Jackson down to poor old Yoda! My movie buff friends have no interest in sci-fi at all yet EVEN they balked at Hayden's nomination (and now win). Obviously the Razzies are trying to send some 'message' but its certainly not over the true 'worst of the year'. Please leave politicizing and undercurrent messages to Washington, the United Nations, and the Oscars.

On a related point, the Oscars are a joke too (no suprise!). One of the best supporting actor roles all year was Ian McDermind(?) ironically also in Episode 3. But like J. Nicolson as the Joker back in 1989, the Academy is too pompous to even consider this. Perhaps if the Emperor was played GAY... sultry looks toward Mace Windu.... hhhmmmmm

I'm really glad that Paris Hilton won the worst supporting actress award. That was by far the worst acting I've ever seen. I feel bad for Jenny McCarthy, I hadn't heard of her film until now, but I know people who have read her books and thought they were hilarious. Perhaps they have bad taste or she just wasn't made for movies.

And the tripods in "War of the Worlds" didn't get Worst Supporting Appliance?

And I would agree that Sam Jackson deserved the award more than Hayden. At least Hayden looked happy when Natalie told him she was pregnant.

There is no way in hell that War of the Worlds is worse than Dirty Love, not in any f-ing way. It was a crappy, crappy movie(although I didnt 100% of it) and cannot even be compared to WotW.
