Trailer Bulletin: Clerks 2
by Scott Weinberg | April 03, 2006
Discuss Article
Dante, Randall, Jay, and (apparently) the whole gang is back in Kevin Smith's "Clerks 2," which sees the crew move over from convenience store service to fast food hell. Featuring a bunch of the original cast members and a few newcomers (including the painfully beautiful Rosario Dawson), the flick doesn't open until August, but you can check the brand-new trailer right here!

Writer/director/movie geek Kevin Smith describes the plot like so: ""It's about what happens when that lazy, 20-something malaise lasts into your 30s. Those dudes are kind of still mired, not in that same exact situation, but in a place where it's time to actually grow up and do something more than just sit around and dissect pop culture and talk about sex. It's: What happened to these dudes?"

Starring Brian O'Halloran, Jeff Anderson, Rosario Dawson, Jennifer Schwalbach Smith, Jason Mewes, Kevin Smith, and a handful of "surprise" guests, "Clerks 2" (which no longer has the "Passion of the Clerks" subtitle, thank god) hit theaters on August 18th, courtesy of the producers who unleashed the original "Clerks," Bob & Harvey Weinstein.

the first one, completely blew my mind when I first watched it I was just floored by how entertaining and edgy and original it was. It was so good I was thinking I can't believe I'm actually seeing this! I literaly felt like I was a ghost just hovering around them and being a voyeur onto their lives. And the story felt so real to me. Realilty is LIFE SUCKS, YOU DONT WANT to be at WORK, YOU HATE serving people!, YOU never get along with your Girlfriend, and you HATE your friends. And clerks captured all that!
After saying all that, I doubt Clerks II will capture that rare and beautiful essence.

Looks pretty funny and cameo-laden. Marshall from Alias doing the Anakin impression was gold.

Clerks was one of those unique and special movies that come along every once in a while that earns the title classic. Instead of just leaving it alone, the producers will now cheapen it by making a sequel for money. As quoted above: "It's about what happens when that lazy, 20-something malaise lasts into your 30s. Those dudes are kind of still mired, not in that same exact situation, but in a place where it's time to actually grow up and do something more than just sit around and dissect pop culture and talk about sex. It's What happened to these dudes?" What happened was they were offered a pile a money to try and reproduce what they did in the first movie. Clerks will now become just another run of the mill Hollywood money grab.

I will see this for Rosario Dawson alone. Who cares if it is a sequel to a beloved classic. I'll be there first day.

i read that parts of it are supposed to be in black in white. they will probably drive passed the Quick Stop and it will be in b&w, then they arrive at Mooby's and it changes to color. Something probably close to that.
I have been following the online vid diaries on the clerks 2 website, and it seems like it is going to be cool. The guy who plays randall said he would never do a clerks sequel, but then he read the script and changed his mind.
can't wait!

Return of the JEDI (not King)
So, I take it.... no animated Clerks movie?

Even though I VEHEMENTLY disagree with the crack about Anakin, that joke was still funny.

This looks even greater than Smith's stint on Degrassi. I'll be there, opening day.

But if anyone ruined the saga, it was Lucas, and Lucas alone.
