Get Ready for the Return of ... "Bean"
You knew it was only a matter of time before Rowan Atkinson came back with another "Mr. Bean" movie. (Anyone out there see Johnny English? Sheesh.) And today Variety reports that a production date is set for Bean 2, which will be distributed stateside by Universal Pictures. (Did you know that the first Bean made over $230 million worldwide? Strange but true.)
From Variety: "Steve Bendelack, who made his feature directing debut with last year's TV spinoff "The League of Gentlemen's Apocalypse," will direct "Bean II" for Working Title Films.
Sequel to the 1997 hit "Bean: The Ultimate Disaster Movie" will once again star Rowan Atkinson. It starts shooting May 15.
Pic finds the hapless Mr. Bean traveling to the South of France on holiday, causing the usual mayhem and ending with an unscheduled screening of his video diary at the Cannes Film Festival."

on Apr 11 2006 03:55 AM Even though it sounds like an absolutely horrible idea, and an almost desperate attempt for redemption after Johnny English, it might be cool to see Mr. Bean in action again. The character was really quite great. (Reply to this) |

on Apr 11 2006 11:20 AM Mr. Bean is Mr. Bean and unlike a Deuce Bigelow, he accepts the fact that he's a moron and he's proud of it. That's what makes him funny. Welcome back Mr. Bean! (Reply to this) |

![]() on Apr 11 2006 02:10 PM Sadly, I enjoyed Johhny English. Sure its not oscar material, but it made me laugh enough for my 8 bucks. And I am really happy to see Bean back. Atkinson is one of the most talented comedians of the past twenty years, and I know he would not agree to do another "Bean" unless the script was quality. Im stoked. (Reply to this) |

![]() on Apr 12 2006 06:01 PM I remember laughing hysterically at exactly one point in "Bean," when he goes and turns up the juice on some amusement park ride for no good reason other than he's bored, and people go flying around. Back then, a movie ticket was about $6.50 at my theater, so it was worth $6.50. (Reply to this) |
