Doubts About Doubtfire 2
by Scott Weinberg | April 27, 2006

There's no denying that raucous Robin Williams has himself a pretty full plate these days, professionally. He's got "RV" coming out this weekend, "The Night Listener," "Night at the Museum," and "Happy Feet" later this year, and a whole bunch of projects on the back burner. But don't expect to be seeing a "Mrs. Doubtfire 2" any time soon.

From USA Today: "There have been two different drafts (of the script)," Williams says. "The hard part about following it up is at the end of the first one, he revealed his identity to his kids. How do you play that out? How does she come back? One of the ideas was that he'd go to New York because his daughter was going to college and he'd be nearby. But as a script, it never worked."

Thank god. They would have ruined the 1st one!

Amen to that. Nothing trivializes a movie more than unecessary sequel!

OMG! I thought I was the only person in the world who thought sequels always ruin the first movies! I'm not alone then! :D Yay!

most sequels do ruin the first movies MOST, terminator 2 didn't ruin terminator 1,spider man 2 didn't ruin spider man 1,batman returns didn't ruin batman but thank god that they wouldn't make a sequel to mrs.doubtfire it would have been stupid and pointless and there are some movies that aren't made to have sequels like what do you think it would be like if they made a sequel for signs or the sixth sense

Just screened RV...and I want to shoot myself. I think I lightly chuckled once the entire time, and the joke must not have been that good anyways because I can't remember what it was. By the way, the writers must have really toiled long and hard coming up with Jeff Daniels' character...he's a ripoff of Ned Flanders in every conceivable way.

Generally speaking, sequels do ruin their original counterparts. I was actually interested in seeing this just to see what they could possibly do with it, however it probably would have turned out badly so it is a relief to see it may not happen.
