Devlin to Start "Ghosting"
by Scott Weinberg | May 19, 2006

Longtime producer Dean Devlin looks poised to make his directorial debut some time soon, and his project of choice will be a thriller called "Ghosting."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Dean Devlin finally is making his long-awaited shift from producer to director. He will direct "Ghosting," an effects-packed paranormal thriller, he said Thursday. Jessie Alexander's script centers on a crippled cop who works with a group of undercover investigators who temporarily paralyze hearts to move back and forth between the land of the living and the dead."

Mr. Devlin is best known from his previous partnership with Roland Emmerich; together the pair produced "Stargate," "Independence Day," and "Godzilla."

"Flatliners" ring a bell? The only problem is that you have to suffocate the brain to truly "die," not just the heart (the blood is still oxygenated to a certain degree). Devlin better send his writers back to med school before he tries to pull this one over our eyes.

Maybe when he mentioned hearts, he meant it figuratively =)

Anyway, yeah, the "effects-packed paranormal thriller" line also reminded me of that one movie by Peter Jackson before he did the Rings... I'm also not too keen on that title

Lastly, just a little tid-bit, the brain can survive only about 5-10 minutes without proper blood circulation. Even so, it can potentially have massive damages (brain cells die) so I don't know how they're gonna pull that one off.

It was called "Braindead" ("Dead Alive" in The States). Jackson's best film, imho.
