"Pirates 3" Plot -- and Depp Wants to Do "Pirates 4"?
by Scott Weinberg | June 19, 2006
Discuss Article
With "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" right around the corner, we're now getting a few juicy tidbits of information on what next summer's "Pirates of the Caribbean Part 3" will be about! (Spoilers Ahoy!) Also, Johnny Depp recently stated that he'd have no problem playing Captain Jack again and again ... provided the screenplays were tight.

We'll start off with Depp's quote from a recent Newsweek article: "He's a blast to play," he says. "I'll be in a deep, dark depression saying goodbye to him." He laughs. "I'll keep the costume and just prance around the house, entertain the kids." Or the rest of the world. "Maybe 'Pirates 4, 5 and 6'," he says. "If they had a good script, why not? I mean, at a certain point, the madness must stop, but for the moment, I can't say that he's done."

OK, so regarding "Pirates 3," (which I'm hearing MIGHT be called "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End") we go to the fantastic Disney-centric blog known as Jim Hill Media. I'm not going to post any quotes on P3, but if you want the semi-spoilerish details they're right here. (Also included are some early plot details for "Ratatouille," "Meet the Robinsons," and "Enchanted.")

Wait a minute... I thought they were filming the sequels back to back...? Guess they changed their minds.

they filmed the second and third movie at the same time. i'm sure they are still filming some stuff for it, but wrapping up soon.

i agree with Depp, as long as there is a good story to tell, i'm for more of these movies!

it's a fun franchise and i like the "way out there" villians and 'pulp' feel this has.
as long as it's fun, keep 'em coming.

What they probably meant by back to back was to finish 2 then move on to 3 so they can show it next year. It is the cg that takes a while to finish.

A few sequels isn't a crime, this is a fun series, but six!?

Gore Verbinski is a talented guy, I think he should get away from these now as soon as possible.

I actually thought Ken Watanabe was going to be in the third Pirates film and everything was going to happen around china or something.

as long as it doesn't become "that old gag" by the third one, why the hell not? the more of Captain Jack Sparrow, the better.

Why would Depp not want to continue, easy money for him, and guaranteed success. I'd be all for six if they were good, and there wasn't 3 year gaps between them like the Spiderman films, although I would hope they would be better than the Harry Potter films that get released every year.

update: Sometimes information comes from the strangest of places. Call me crazy but I actual like reality tv. I was watching the newest installation of cbs's "BIG BROTHER 8". CBS shows a segment every night from 12am-3am est, called "BIG BROTHER AFTER DARK". Now, one of the people vying for the prize money was talking about actually being contacted just before doing this show and being asked to take part in PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 4. He will be playing a stand in (or double) for Jack Sparrow's father (still to be played by Keith Richards). He went on to say that filming began in August but is under the belief that Keith Richards part is not being filmed yet (which will allow him to keep competing in this reality show). Now, like you, I questioned whether this was true or not. So, I went to "MY SPACE" and found his myspace page. And sure enough there was a picture of him with Johnny Depp and yes, Depp still had the pirate beard (so we know it was taken during filming). Incredible but true. If you are curious... go to myspace and do a search for Evil Dick Donato (as I do not remember off-hand what the exact title of his page is). So, all I can tell you is that there WILL DEFINATELY BE A PIRATES 4 and it will definately have Johnny Depp and Keith Richards. More than that, I dont know. Hope this helps ease the mind of many of you fans who are as hopeful as I am.
