Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz Get Real Close in a New Trailer for "The Fountain"
by RT Staff | July 24, 2006
Blog Article | Discuss Article
Armed with a love story taking place at three times over a thousand years, flawless special effects, and more period costumes than you can shake a stick at, the man who brought you "Pi" and "Requiem for a Dream" has a gem of a film with "The Fountain." Here is the flipbook, full of pics and courtesy of Rotten Tomatoes, plus a snazzy new trailer.

The trailer is a little taste of what Darren Aronofsky has in store, and it should whet your appetite for the razzles and dazzles of three interwoven period pieces, a love story, and a science fiction enigma.

With visuals reeking of "Solaris" just as much "Requiem," "The Fountain" takes on Aronofsky's usual questions about life, love, and the universe, and stars Hugh Jackman, Rachel Weisz, Ellen Burstyn, and Ethan Suplee. IN THEATERS OCTOBER 13, 2006.

One fo the best Trailers I have ever seen... But by now, it's sort of old news (The Trailer). Aronofsky is one of the better Director's today.

It's "old news" by two or three days, plus we had a lot of Comic-Con coverage to get to! ;)

Anyway, the trailer's too awesome not to mention. Cannot wait to see this film.

Looks awesome. I wonder if Aronofsky had a good childhood, his imagination must of freaked him out at night.

It's pretty hard to explain; CHUD has a review that does a pretty good job though. CHUD claimed it wasn't too hard to follow but just reading the review I don't believe it.

When I heard of this movie some time back. I for some reason have no intrest in seeing it. Maybe when it comes out on DVD. Just remember the big hype about Jackman's last movie and it wasn't very good.

Release Date Change
The early word on this has been exceptional, and the release date was just changed to November 22. Hugh Jackman gets glowing reviews in everything I have read. He will have four movies in the space of a month come out - "The Prestige" on Oct. 20, "Flushed Away" (animation) on Nov. 3, "Happy Feet" (animation) on Nov. 17, and now this on Nov. 22.

I dunno ....
not overly impressed or enticed by the trailer, sadly. Nice visuals, but could just be style over substance.

DA reminds me of a high school / college philospher -- he has ideas/beliefs that have no real tangible conclusion, but they hypnotize you for awhile with their intricate, ultimately underwhelming, evolutions.

At least that's what I felt after watching Pi and RFAD. Perhaps this will be different, but I've got a feeling that it won't. Perhaps it will have a cool soundtrack like RFAD, though.

I got to actually see a sneak preview of this movie way back, part of the first audience to ever see it. They handed out review cards for us, so some scenes might be rejiggered and such, but let me tell you, we have nothing to worry about. It kicked ass.

Why doesn't he quit messing around and make Van Helsing II for cryin' out loud. That's what everybody really wants.

Saw it as well.
I also got to see it at the second test audience screening. It is the final cut, they just want to find out how to market it... and it was AMAZING!
