Tim Roth & Naomi Watts to Star in "Funny Games" Remake
by Scott Weinberg | August 24, 2006
Blog Article | Discuss Article
Apparently the only thing wrong with Michael Haneke's "Funny Games" is that it isn't in English -- so get ready for the Americanized version, which will pair the original director with stars Tim Roth and Naomi Watts. So maybe it's more of a British-ized version.

From Variety: "In "Funny Games," which starts in September, Roth will play a father and husband who tries to protect his family after two psychos invade their cabin during a vacation."

--

Michael Haneke will be returning to direct his own remake, clearly unaware of what happened when George Sluizer tried to do the exact same thing with his film "Spoorloos." (It turned into "The Vanishing.")

you're slighting oscar-nominee naomi watts again by listing her AFTER time roth. tim roth & his character george is NOT the lead of this film. naomi watts & her character anna is. so is susanne lothar & her character in the 1997 german original.

Tim Roth and Naomi Watts both are awsome, which helps make this sound pretty sweet. I never have seen the orginal version though for some reason.

No doubt it will be "toned-down" for us stupid Americans. Kinda like they did with the remake of THE VANISHING. They'll just never learn...

One of the most overrated movies on RT. I was disappointed when I finally got around to seeing it. Apparently Hollywood is not content with sequels, they have to remake foreign movies now. By the truckload.
