Sly Stallone back for "Rambo IV"?
It looks like Sylvester Stallone will be reprising one of his most seminal characters, John Rambo, in a fourth "Rambo" film. According to Production Weekly (via Comingsoon.net), Sly will direct and star in "Rambo IV: In the Serpent's Eye," based upon his own script.
The film, tentatively scheduled for shooting in January, will tell the story of a group of missionaries doing aid work in Burma who enlist Rambo to defend them against pirates. After some of the aid workers are kidnapped, Rambo assembles a ragtag team of fighters to rescue them. This would be the first "Rambo" picture since 1988's "Rambo III." Stallone will also star in "Rocky Balboa," which will be in theaters Dec. 22.

I mean, he wrote/directed the first one and it won the oscar, plus the studio has some faith in it to give it a December 22 release But he also wrote or directed Rambo III and Rhinestone, so I don't know And don't forget Stayin' Alive Good Luck Stallone!! taran72 writes: on Oct 10 2006 11:44 AM The plot sounds like a major copout. I was expecting something really daring and relevant. For instance: Rambo is hired to protect contract oil workers in Iraq. After gunning down Iraqi after Iraqi, he suspects something is amiss when the terrorists know his every move and tactic. He finds out Haliburton WANTS car bombing, murder and mayhem because it gives them a better reason to get the hell out. So he hunts down the maniacal terrorist leader and eventually the CEO of Haliburton, dispatching of them both with the appropriate sneer and snide remark. The End. (Reply to this) |

ck100 writes: on Oct 10 2006 05:09 PM For pete's sake. Does he have to do another unnecessary, cash-in sequel? Why can't he just call it quits and ride off into the sunset with some dignity? Does he have to turn his characters into parody? I doubt anyone wants to see an over-the-hill, past-his-prime action star milk his popular movies dry and make an ass out of himself. He may be laughing all the way to the bank, but we'll be laughing at him and not with him when he's on screen trying to fight guys half his age. (Reply to this) |

ezekiel0807 writes: on Oct 10 2006 05:27 PM "Rocky" looks pretty decent, because he addresses the fact that he's so damn old. But "Rambo IV", come on. It's hilarious because the film credits for Stallone's recent movies are starting to resemble the credits of a movie a kid made in his backyard with a Super 8 camera. Written by Stallone. Directed by Stallone. Starring Stallone. It won't be long before Sly starts adding wigs and fake beards to change his appearance in order to play different characters. It'll be like a Monty Python film, but only starring Stallone. But if people pay to see it, all power to you, Sly. (Reply to this) |

ArrowDawg writes: on Dec 05 2006 09:53 PM This is laughable. I like Sly a lot, but he's just too darn old to reprise Rambo again. Rocky I can see, because we've seen many REAL boxers over the years try to make comebacks well past their prime. Holyfield is still at it. Foreman came back and actually won the title with a lucky punch about 15+ years after he lost his title to Ali in Zaire,. But Rambo? Sly admittedly looks about 10 years younger than his actual age, but we all know it'll be an almost 60-year-old man playing war. (Reply to this) |
