"Rambo IV" Rights Challenged In Court
Were you excited to hear that Sly Stallone is reprising his role as the world's deadliest Vietnam vet, John J. Rambo? Well, put that thought on hold, because the Weinsten Co. is taking legal action over distribution rights to "Rambo IV: In the Serpent's Eye."
The pic is already in pre-production and is slated to start filming in January. But The Weinstein Co. has filed suit against production company Nu Image for offering to Lionsgate the distribution rights they say should have come to them first.

The fourth time, it's for the missionaries...
With a release scheduled for 2008, "Rambo IV" will be the first "Rambo" vehicle in ten years; judging from early plot details, it should fall nicely in line with the story quality and themes of the previous three flicks, "First Blood" (1982), "Rambo: First Blood Part II" (1985), and "Rambo III" (1988).
"Rambo IV" finds survivalist extraordinaire Rambo coming to the aid of Christian missionaries in Burma who are attacked by pirates during a humanitarian aid mission. As with any great war flick, Rambo must assemble a rag-tag band of mercenaries to defeat the Burmese pirates.
In talks to star alongside Stallone are thesps James Brolin and Kim Dickens; "Nip/Tuck" doc Bruno Campos, Carrie Southworth, and Linden Ashby (aka Johnny Cage from "Mortal Kombat") are already signed on.

Fangmeier69 writes: on Oct 16 2006 01:43 PM First Rambo film in ten years? - TRY 20 YEARS. It's too bad Stallone can't find anything new to do that the public likes, but exhuming the corpse of Rambo right after Rocky, when he has reached his sixties, certainly has a stench to it all. alsanali writes: on Oct 17 2006 01:16 AM Rambo is NOT going to make a lot of money. People have a different idea of an "action hero" today than they did 20 years ago. And who's the audience here? Kids who see Rambo as a part of ancient history? Men who watched Rambo 20 years ago? Present day fans of Sly? Yeah, right... (Reply to this) |

ArrowDawg writes: on Dec 05 2006 09:56 PM No Richard Crenna anymore I'm sad to say. Just won't be the same. Rambo won't have the Colonel to lean on when his arthriitis starts acting up, or to help him look for his false teeth when they pop out during battle..... (Reply to this) |
