Polanski's Role in "Rush Hour 3"
Wondering how/why filmmaker Roman Polanski would be appearing in next summer's "Rush Hour 3"? I'll admit I was a little curious, so here's a little scoop: He's playing a French police detective! How ... great.
From Variety: "Roman Polanski will appear in New Line's "Rush Hour 3," starring Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan and currently shooting in Paris.
Polanski's been cast as a French police officer who harasses Tucker and Chan's characters in several scenes while the stars battle a wing of a Chinese organized-crime family.
Though the director's occasionally acted in European films such as Andrzej Wajda's "The Revenge," "Rush Hour 3" marks his first thesping gig in a Hollywood pic since 1974's "Chinatown" as "a man with a knife." After winning the directing Oscar for "The Pianist" three years ago, he last helmed "Oliver Twist."

on Oct 27 2006 09:47 AM please eastern2western try to defend a pedophile. I think everyone would enjoy that. I think he's a great director but that doesn't mean you can't disagree with his perverse sexual tendencies. Just like Woody Allen, funny guy great director, married his adopted daughter. on Oct 27 2006 10:30 AM I imagine that a little part of one's humanity is lost when one's wife is murdered by a member of the Manson family. That's not a defense, but...perhaps it's easy to understand how he developed such tendencies. Anyway, I hope Rush Hour 3 is worh seeing. I always hate it when good actors/directors do cameos in bad movies. (Reply to this) |

on Oct 27 2006 12:50 PM Hmm, I'm actually really looking forward to this movie now since Polanski joined up. Will be interesting to see him acting again Now, before everyone throws the whole rape thing around again. I know what he did and I find it awful, but I still respect him as an actor and director. on Oct 28 2006 03:46 AM In reply to this comment (#847453) im sorry but bad things happen to everyone but you dont see us going around raping people etc. He is a good director but he has to pay for his actions and the fact that he is now notorius for the whole rape thing is little justice to him. Any man of worth woudl enter the US and pay for their crime but i guess he is hardly a man at all. (Reply to this) |

on Oct 28 2006 08:14 AM In reply to this comment (#847455) That's a nearsighted assumption, Corrector. Do you mean to suggest that there are no psychological ramifications for enduring extreme emotional trauma? (Reply to this) |

on Oct 28 2006 10:19 AM you know that 'rape' in this case is a term applied when the victim is of an age deemed by the courts not old enough to consent to sex. I seem to remember that the victim stated years later that she forgave polanski for his bad judgement. he was a freaky hollywood player, not the hillside strangler. Now that he's married almost 20 years and in his 70's I'm sure he's not that kind of player anymore. (Reply to this) |

on Oct 29 2006 08:30 PM In reply to this comment (#847455) Yes, I imagine I am. In fact, the sign of my retardation, I was told, was my insistence on portraying the other party in a disagreement as mentally deficient. That didn't sit well with my opinion, however, so I blurted out a careless, silly insult and got on without offering much of value to that or any other discussion. (Reply to this) |
