Edgar Ramirez to Play "Bourne Ultimatum" Villain
by Scott Weinberg | November 02, 2006
Discuss Article
We've been hearing a lot of "maybe" names regarding the villain role in the third "Bourne" adventure, and now comes word that Edgar Ramirez has landed the role of Paz, a.k.a. The Guy Who Wants To Kill Jason Bourne.

From Empire Online: "Edgar Ramirez has been cast as Paz, the villain in The Bourne Ultimatum. Several names, including Gael Garcia Bernal and Freddy Rodriguez, had previously been mentioned in connection with the role of the assassin involved in the hunt for Jason Bourne. Ramirez is probably best known for his role as Keira Knightley's bounty hunter buddy Choco in "Domino."

Interesting choice.

Guess this means no Bernal in the "Bourne" cast, after all?

Ramirez joins fellow "Bourne" newb Paddy Considine and David Strathairn, plus returning players Matt Damon, Joan Allen and Julia Stiles. Currently filming, the pic is due in theaters August 3, 2007. Paul Greengrass ("The Bourne Supremacy") will again direct.

I hope they fix the fight scenes, they were almost unwatchable in Supremacy.

I agree that he is a good choice, but I still wish they would have gone with Gael Garcia Bernal, he is a very good actor and about to become an enormous star.

Sigh. I wish they would have just used a different name for the movie trilogy, since they no longer have anything whatsoever to do with the books. I guess I'll still probably see this, but I was very disappointed with the Supremacy film. Sigh.

Come on, it's not that Ramirez, thank god. I liked Edgar in Domino so I'm happy with this choice. It should be a nice career boost for him.

TheMaster847 I definitely agree with you. These movies might be good, but it is impossible for me to tell since I love the books so much and these are NOTHING like the books. It destroyed me when Carlos wasn't even in The Bourne Identity.

They need to rename this series something else.
