A Shocking New Ending for "Black Christmas"?
by Fred Topel | November 09, 2006
Discuss Article
As horror movie remakes go, "Black Christmas" may be obscure enough that today’s audience doesn’t remember it. But just to be sure, the filmmakers are crafting a new ending to shock audiences. Even star Mary Elizabeth Winstead doesn’t know what the final release version will be.

“I really don’t know what to expect because they’ve been editing and reshooting and editing and changing things around,” she said. “So I’m going to be just as surprised as everyone else I think when the movie actually comes out. I think they reshot the ending and I’ve been kind of out of the loop because I’ve been working on other things, so I think the ending might actually be different than what I knew of.”

You’d think an actor would know if she went back to reshoot more scenes, but Winstead kept her involvement in the reshoots vague. “Well, I can’t say. They don’t want anyone to know who lives and who dies so I kind of stay out of that.”

"Black Christmas" is schedule for Christmas Day 2006. “Counter-programming I think is what they’re saying.”

A shocking new ending. What are they going to do? Apologise for remaking it?

"Shocking new ending" is Hollywood-speak for "exempt from plagiarism."

Whatever. At least they are almost trying to be different.

Look at how many people know about the original Black Xmas now (which is a great movie imo)

I hope that the remake is halfway decent and can at least spark some interest in the underrated original.

The Dawn of the Dead remake was awesome, so I have a little bit of hope for this... hopefully this movie won't go the way of the When a Stranger Calls remake. Yuck.

I can't wait to see what the early reviews say about it. Y'know, the ones that come out before the move? right guys?

The only Black Christmas movie that will ever matter is already out, like remakes of classic rock songs, this remake will be forgotten about after it's first weekend of release. There, the very first early review of the new Black Christmas turkey even before it's released.

Well, for the fact the the original When A Stranger Calls sucked, I think the remake of that was well done. But, it's a totally different film than Black Christmas, so, I hope we get something real dark for the Black Christmas remake.

black christmas
you can't get any darker than the original. there was no explanation for the killings. one girl's dead body was displayed on a tree branch outside the house. this movie is trying to give a reason why he killed all of them. the reason black christmas orginial was dark was because it explained nothing. he killed them and left the house and the movie ended. that's it. it was finished. i hate remakes and explanations for the killings. it makes it no longer scary.
