"Borat" Star to Dine with "Schmucks"
by Scott Weinberg | November 09, 2006

Fresh off the surprisingly strong debut of his "Borat," Sacha Baron Cohen has signed on to star in DreamWorks' "Dinner with Schmucks." It's a comedy, of course, based (not surprisingly) on a French farce.

From IGN Movies & Variety: "Sacha Baron Cohen, a.k.a. Borat, is attached to star in the DreamWorks comedy "Dinner With Schmucks." The project, a remake of the 1998 French flick "Le Diner de cons," (aka "The Dinner Game") will be produced by Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald.

Variety says that in the original film, "a Paris publisher urges his friends to invite the most pathetic people possible to his weekly dinner party. In the English-language remake, Cohen would play a guest so full of 'schmuckiness' that he ruins the lives of anyone who comes into his orbit."

Sounds funny.

I've seen the orginal and it's REALLY funny. I hope the remake can live up to it.

"Le dîner de cons" is a comedic classic. I doubt we'll do it justice. Just look at Father's Day, Pure Luck, and Just Visiting.... *shakes head*
But, maybe with the comedic prowess of Baron Cohen, it could turn out to be great... I'll give it the benefit of the doubt.
