Early Screening Report on "300"
by Scott Weinberg | November 16, 2006
Discuss Article | Blog Article | Email To A Friend
A few more buzzings have leaked out regarding Zack Snyder's "300," which is of course the highly-anticipated action flick based on the novel by Frank Miller. Apparently another guy saw it -- and loved it.

From AICN: "Overall, this is a great film that, along with Sin City and Sky Captain, will change everything. Despite what some thought, I think what Zack Snyder did with Dawn of the Dead was inspired. He really takes his game to a whole new level with this film. I can only imagine that the people that truly care about how this film turns out will be overjoyed to see the final product. When it’s all said and done, Snyder pulls it off…and I couldn’t be more excited to see what he does with The Watchmen."

Click here for the rest; I just skipped to the bottom.

(And ... did "Sky Captain" actually change anything? I really liked that flick, but ... really?)

Sky Captain!? It was sort of entertaining, but I forgot it before I got to the bathroom on the way out of the theater. WTF did Sky Captain change?

Having said that I HOPE it's good.

sky captain was a supermodel: looked great, but no substance.

Sky Captain changed nothing

And "Dawn of the Dead" was inspired by nothing. It was obvious that Snyder was reverant of the source material but completely missed the point, hence the mall-zombie violence was there, but the brilliant sub-text which is the heart of the Romero dead films is completely lost. So, to say you had fun with the "Dawn of the Dead" remake is fine, but to call it "inspired" is just idiotic.

So in conclusion, as much as I'm looking forward to hearing some worth-while news about "300" the opinion of someone who discribes Snyder's "Dawn of The Dead" as "Inspired" is worth basically nothing.

Sky captai was crap. I hated that movie so much. I did love Sin City, so if this comes close I'll be happy

I've watched the original "Dawn of the Dead" more than I care to remember, it was pretty cool for it's time but I'm sick of hearing about Romero's "brilliant sub-text"!
I think the premise was better than the actual film.
It wasn't even original back when it came out and it's NOT brilliant!
I know there are re-make doosh bags out there who love to can remakes no matter how good they are or how superior to the original they may be and Dawn is a shining example.
Ramero isn't a good director and he's gotten worse and out of touch with age (aka Land of the Dead). Zack Snyder is an inovater and great director.
I can't wait for 300, and his take on Dawn couldn't have been better.
Bring on More!!!!!!!!!
And Sky Captian was CRAP.

"Epic"?
I'd like to know (and I mean this seriously) how the comic book qualifies as an "epic." I just read it fifteen minutes and while I have nothing against it, is the epic part because of the number of people involved in the fighting, or just a marketing buzz?

300, Dawn...
Dawn of the Dead the remake was the best zombie flick I've ever seen... finally something original... instead of slow zombies that could never believably catch someone, we get really scary zombies that are also fast, as well as mindless... to say it wasn't inspired is idiotic.
