"Resident Evil" Series to Go "Extinct" After Third Flick
When the producers of the third "Resident Evil" movie called their flick "Extinction," they weren't kidding! Looks like the series will end up being a trilogy and nothing more ... maybe.
From IGN Movies & Sony Pictures: "The studio refers to the flick as "the third and final installment" of Resident Evil, and goes on to give a breakdown of Extinction's action:
Alice (Milla Jovovich), now in hiding in the Nevada desert, once again joins forces with Carlos Olivera (Oded Fehr) and L.J. (Mike Epps), along with new survivors Claire (Ali Larter), K-Mart (Spencer Locke) and Nurse Betty (Ashanti) to try to eliminate the deadly virus that threatens to make every human being undead... and to seek justice. Since being captured by the Umbrella Corporation, Alice has been subjected to biogenic experimentation and becomes genetically altered, with super-human strengths, senses and dexterity. These skills, and more, will be needed if anyone is to remain alive."

What I want to know is what happened to Sienna Guillory! She's the best thing in the (lame-o) sequel, and she's not brought back for Part 3?

on Dec 18 2006 06:06 AM Let it rest, but just for a while This marks the end of this series of adaptations, but this does not mean the end of "Resident Evil". This series started out fair at best but then went horrible real fast. In couple decades, maybe sooner, a new writer/director might give it a shot and make a movie that actually lives up to the excitement of playing the games, as I guarentee that they will still be making Resident Evil games for a very long time. on Dec 19 2006 09:53 AM This stuff is worse than Uwe Boll. Not in terms of quality, it's just that people actually see these things out of something other than morbid curiosity. They certainly don't make video games look good. And if one more person suggests a Resident Evil 4 movie, I'm going to hit someone. That's a great game but the story is horrible. What charms it has would be completely lost in the conversion. I can't believe they turned down George Romero's Resident Evil script. It's pretty great. (Reply to this) |

on Dec 19 2006 06:12 PM Sienna was smart to bail, and thank God they're killing this wretched franchise. maybe they're actually listening to all the critics and gamers who have rightly slammed these movies for being dogshit. if only they'd listen a little closer and can Extinction too. and as for Romero's script, it was okay, but i still would have preferred something closer to the game's story, Romero's script took a few too many liberties. tweak his script to be closer to the original game, but let Romero direct, and they would have had something a lot better than anything Paul W.S. Anderson could crap out. (Reply to this) |

on Apr 01 2007 09:14 PM Good. let this movie, trilogy, series or whatever you call "stuff-this-bad" die; and mabey in a good 10-20 years someone with some actual dirceting skills will do the series justice. Romero could have directed a better film taking a shit! AND FOR CHRIST SAKES, FIND A ACTRESS WITH SOME ACTUAL TITTIES!!! Half the time alice looks like a "punk-rock-DUDE" (Reply to this) |
