De Laurentiises Bless "Evil Dead" Remake ... and Want More "Hannibal"
Summary
Sam Raimi is a bona fide mogul now with his Ghost House Pictures studio producing horror movies while he's off making "Spider-Man" movies. Back in the day, he needed Dino De Laurentiis's help to make the third "Evil Dead" film, "Army of Darkness." Now that Raimi plans to remake his original "Evil Dead" through Ghost House, De Laurentiis thinks it's a great idea. Back to Article

on Feb 01 2007 09:33 PM Dear Mr. Raimi For the love of God. DON'T DON'T DON'T!!! (Reply to this) |

![]() on Feb 02 2007 06:03 AM Actually, if they need a new Ash, they can recruit the guy playing Ash in Evil Dead: The Musical (showing here in NYC). I've seen it and he's quite convincing. (Reply to this) |

on Feb 02 2007 08:22 AM In reply to this comment (#854501) I've heard that's hilarious. I'd prefer they just make that into a film instead of remaking the original movie! (Reply to this) |

on Feb 02 2007 10:21 AM More proof of the oncoming apocalypse It saddens me so much to see so many of my favorite movies being remade. The hitcher, the hills have eyes, now the birds, christ people come on. I showed the original evil dead at the theatre i work at halloween and it was a huge hit. With spiderman hopefully coming to an end in may why not re-release all the old evil deads and have raimi and campbell do a sequal, army of darkness lead into it perfectly...after he's done with bubba nosferatu, of course. Just more proof that the horror movie genre is dead, and cgi (and micheal bay) or what killed it. (Reply to this) |
![]() on Feb 03 2007 03:29 PM what? there's an army of darkness director's cut.................well anyway i love the evil dead series there all classic films........but i still don't know if they could pull this off.........hannibal rising is something that just dosen't need to be.......manhunter and silence of the lambs were great horror movies but hannibal though better then most horror sequels wasan't really something that should have been either........so i think they should have just left it at silence of the lambs and manhunter instead of wasting their money on shitty sequels (Reply to this) |

on Feb 08 2007 09:48 AM I hate to say it, but the horror genre of movie is near-dead. Remakes and horrible, CGI-laden movies have taken the scare out of movies.....Honestly, I think video game horror is far scarier.... (Reply to this) |

on Feb 28 2007 05:58 PM F*** this! NO need. He will turn it into every other mediocre remake horror movie that has been "regurgitated" over the last several years. Try creating something new Sam, I'm sure you could have the ideas!! (Reply to this) |

on May 05 2007 05:17 PM Amen to this whole thread. I actually remember the first Evil Dead as being scary for the time, as campy as it was. I've always felt that Evil Dead was Raimi's Psycho-- he thought it was a comedy but everyone got caught up in the horror, so he revised the story and remade it with more humor, and I think more success, in EDII. We don't need ED remade as Hostel or, god forbid, Starwars. And while Dino gets props for ED and Conan, I'll never forgive him for Dune... (Reply to this) |
