Is Jet Li the New "Mummy"?
Guess we'll just keep hearing newer and juicier "Mummy 3" rumors until Universal sends out an official press release, but here's what we've learned so far: Rob Cohen will be directing, Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz might be returning -- and has Jet Li been cast as the new villain?
From Mania.com we hear that Mr. Li is most definitely in talks to appear in "The Mummy: Curse of the Dragon," and the general assumption is that he'll be playing, well, the dragon. Universal is shooting for a summer 2008 release date, so you can expect more concrete info some time soon.
For those with short memory spans, I'll remind you that 1999's "The Mummy" grossed about $415 million in worldwide box office, while the 2001 sequel ("The Mummy Returns") pulled in about $433 million around the globe. With numbers like that ... more sequels are simply inevitable.

highdough writes: on Feb 05 2007 02:58 PM The first Mummy was mildly entertaining, but way too over the top with special effectsl. The second one was crap. Without Stephen "George Lucas on crack" Sommers, the third might be mildly entertaining again. One question, does Jet Li have a manager that will tell him what a horrible idea this is?
