jeanpaul writes: on Feb 16 2007 09:23 AM In reply to this comment (#855980) WHAT ABOUT YOUR OWN OPINION?! Yeah, go right ahead, Asshole. Trash "Ghost Rider" just because some stupid, boring-picture loving fat-in-the-heads critics chose to do that. What about your own opinion, you stupid? Doesn't that count for anything, or do you like critics to choose which underwear you shoud be wearing tomorrow also? Jeez... People who don't have any opinion of thier own, but rely BLINDLY on critics's choice, really get on nerves. The critics love boring, snoring, bullshit-stiched-together-with selotape kinda movies like that boring-fest "BABEL" and what-not... Is there any surprise they'd find faults with "Ghost Rider"? They even trashed "Daredevil" at that time--- and many fans feel, they did it UN-JUSTLY, and just out of hatred for Ben Affleck! DD was a FAR better, and comics-character-honoring movie, than that BORING "Superman Returns" by Bryan Singer... for which, by the way, critics all went "hoo-hah"--- and it still remained bullshit regardless. So, c'mon. Show some independent backbone. Don't be third wheel to "Babel-loving-critics"... (Reply to this) |

Kid_Ikarus writes: on Feb 16 2007 10:34 AM In reply to this comment (#855981) i agree completely. I could have given a rats ass about Superman, i didn't think it was all that great, or at least not as entertaining as everyone else thought it was. I think people are shitcanning Ghost Rider just because of the director behind it, who has already gotten unfair criticism for Daredevil. (Reply to this) |

Now it's dark writes: on Feb 16 2007 10:44 AM It's a conspiracy. Ghost Rider is really a great film. Even greater than Daredevil TDC. The critics are jealous of Johnsons genius. (Reply to this) |

kenny356 writes: on Feb 16 2007 11:51 AM I just got back from seeing ghost rider. It isn't what I would call a good film, but it was highly entertaining, and I actually thought Nick Cage was pretty good. (Reply to this) |

TheIceGhost writes: on Feb 16 2007 11:21 PM In reply to this comment (#855981) Haha, you're funny. You know, why the hell can't a guy have the best of both worlds? Some say critcs rule, some loathe critics. I like the idea about having your own opinion, but sometimes you simply know the critics are right, what's wrong with that? Ghost Rider looked like trash from Day 1, I've openly laughed at the trailers and Cage's 'piece'. The fact that critcs say it sucks just doesn't surprise me, that's all. I'm not blindly wading through the sea of cinema, I just don't want to spend hard earned cash on every flick that comes down the pipe. Granted, there are many out there who do surf without the board (and with my comment, sure, I'll say that it could look that way), but I've posted before (pre-reviews) and said the same thing. Guess what!? I saw Ghost Rider this evening, and *drum roll please* IT SUCKED! There were people OPENLY LAUGHING IN THE THEATER (myself being one of them). So my instinct was not only correct (for me), but it was in line with the critics too! Why is that so evil? It isn't, but 'indies' have brainwashed others into believing that it is, which is a shame. Be your own person (a true independent), don't do what the 'cool' kids say. Instead of being completely close minded until you can form your opinion (which is usually based off of family, friend, and passerby opinions anyway), why not let the critics in, see what they say, and possibly save a few bucks? You don't need to see every flick out there, and time is a precious commodity, so why (always) waste it on a film that is getting panned? Ben Affleck was the only GOOD part of DD (which, overall stunk to me), and here's an anti-critic claim: Superman Returns was pretty crappy too! Pan's Labyrinth got fantastic reviews, and guess what, it turned out to be a fantastic movie! Instead of turning a deaf ear to the critics why not listen to what they have to say, bury it inside, and then (if the flick still appeals to you) go see it! There are plenty of movies the critics and I disagree on (The Descent being one of them, what a crap-tacular film that was). A critics job is to look out for you. That's why you need to research critics and find a few who have your taste (don't just look at those percents on this fine and dandy site, they CAN be misleading). If those few (unanimously) say it's terrible, and you don't have a good feeling about it to begin with (like Ghost Rider!) then why not just say, 'hey, this one is probably going to suck'. I did, and I still saw it, and now I'm $9.50 poorer. Opinions are like a$$holes, everyone has one...but what's wrong with fingering one on occasion? (Reply to this) |

ArmyofJuan writes: on Feb 17 2007 12:47 AM Eh, ghost rider wasnt all that bad. It wasnt any spider-man or batman begins no, but it was entertaining. i don't think this movie was supposed to be super serious. i mean, the comic series is just entertaining and all about seeing ghost rider kick some ass, but be all preachy like spider-man. just simple ass kicking. and thats what he did in this movie. mission accomplished. jeanpaul writes: on Feb 17 2007 07:03 AM In reply to this comment (#855980) Sorry, man. Yeah, I guess you're right, man. I'm sorry for the outburst before and all, pal. It's just that I don't like the (sadistic) way, critics choose to trash a film, you know? I'm an amatuer comix artist, and I don't like critics who just come out to bash someone else's work--- but that's the way it is, I guess... Anyway, Sorry for calling names. That was uncalled for. TheIceGhost writes: on Feb 17 2007 12:37 PM In reply to this comment (#855987) Don’t be sorry. Critics can be unrelenting arses, you’re not off the mark there. It’s just like everything else; yeah there are some bad eggs who trash a film because of whatever media gossip is pursuing them (like poor old Afflek), but there are some good critics too who are just trying to do their job (and look out for you). People stereotype critics just like they do with hoboes, whores and the French, you (the individual) have to rise above that and look for the good in them. Sometimes they just plain old suck (heh, literally), but there are some good ones out there too, just have to find some. I’m beginning to dab into the (web)comic world as well, and yeah, I hate how critics can straight out bash someone else’s work too; creative work is hard and a lot of critics seem to forget that, probably why they’re being a critic instead of ya’ know, actually doing it, so props to you for trying to pursue a passion (and lets be blunt here, you don’t do comics for the money :) ). If anything I now feel a slight twang for coming after you the way I did, but there are a lot of people out there who have the mindset in the right place, but are being told a few lies from those hip indie kids that distorts their view. I hope that maybe a few eyes have opened up to see what "being your own person" is really about (and yes, I can see how arrogant that is haha, but that’s the beauty of truly being your own person, you don’t have to give a f&^()!! And to be clear, there is a difference between not giving a f&)@$& and being an a$$hole, so sorry if I was one earlier). Keep Rockin’ (Reply to this) |

kalabus writes: on Feb 17 2007 10:44 PM Oh Please. I watched a movibe in the theater's and everyone laughed at the Ghost Rider trailer. That movie looks terrible. It looks worse than Elektra and everythin in the trailer is corny as all hell. It looks retarded. Everybody on the planet knows that movie will suck. I have never been so sure of anything in my life. What has happened to Cage? You go from Raising Arizona, Leaving Las Vegas, Adaptation, Bringing out the Dead, Wild at Heart to this? I mean even the Weatherman, Lord of War, Peggy Sue got Married etc are solid. The Wicker man and now this crap? I thought Eva Mendes was trying to become a serious actress by the way?
