Anyone Up for a "Bad Santa 2"?

Now here's some potential sequel news that I didn't see coming: A follow-up to "Bad Santa"? Really?

IGN Movies (Australia division) spoke with actor Billy Bob Thornton, and somehow the conversation got around the possibility of a "Bad Santa 2." Here's what the guy had to say: "I can say they're interested because it has been brought to my attention. But I don't know where exactly things stand with it. Right now I think it's still just nothing more than an idea."

Mr. Thornton seems unsure as to whether or not director Terry Zwigoff would want to return for a sequel -- but considering all the hassles he got in "Bad Santa" post-production, that possibility seems pretty remote. Smart guy that he is, Billy Bob insists that the Willie character stay nasty: "He's really just a bad guy, and if you mess with that, you're pulling the essence out of the guy. He's just bad. He'd still have to be bad."

It was pretty good but can't they think of something new?

Billy Bob is too talented to waste his time with BS 2. The same goes for Zwigoff.

Oh come on guys, "Bad Santa" is one of the funniest movies ever. My favorite part is when he's about to enter the kid's house for the first time and asks "Is Granny spry?" as he pulls the ski mask over his head . . . then he walks in and Granny looks at him wearing the mask and says "Oh, who's your friend? I'll make sandwiches." Also the end when the kid pulls on the t-shirt he's sent from jail and it says "Shit happens when you party naked."

Of course that doesn't mean a sequel would be of the same caliber, especially if Zwigoff doesn't return, but the concept is so promising I'd still give it a chance.

It should be fine as long as Christian Bale plays Billy Bobs new partner.

BAD SANTA was highly overrated. I "liked" it, but not it's not that funny. I thought Billy Bob's character was more pathetic and disgusting than funny. Zwigoff has really went downhill after the brilliant Ghost World. The best thing about the first was the lovely Lauren Graham.

Anyway, I'm really surprised this wasn't brought up sooner. With the first being such a big hit and the sequel having the potential to be an even bigger hit if done right I was expecting a sequel to have been announced already. I know nothing is official yet but I'm sure this one will be coming.

Bad Santa 2 needs to come out. Bad Santa is one of the funniest movies of all time, if not the funniest movie of all time. Most definitally the funniest Christmas movie of all time. And let me tell you, Christmas itself is not funny. Praise the lord for
Bad Santa!!!!
